5 basic things to know before raising your first investment round in Europe for Pre-seed Tech Startups ($0 to $25k MRR) about the definition, from whom, and how much? Type of Investment? Valuation? & My advice to you 1. 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞? => has a complementary team => has a Minimum Viable Product => has started to talk and sell to customers => usually has revenue between €0 to €25.000 MRR 2. 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐦 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐈 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞? => Angel investors and Accelerators mostly, => But VCs also focus on the entry of the funnel (pre-seed) because they don't have munition in seed/series A/B. => There are also a few family offices, but this is a new concept in Eastern Europe, where I live. 3. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐝𝐨 𝐈 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞? (𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐞-𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐝) => between €10k to €300k => receive all of the investment vs the investment is unlocked by milestones achieved 4. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? => through direct equity or a convertible loan. There are some SAFE models from Ycombinator and other companies you can use. => In this part of the world, our culture is designed on Ownership. So, you will probably give away equity directly. 5. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? => is subjective. For ex if you create equations demonstrating the valuation based on discounted cash flow, that's 0. => between €100.000 to €3.000.000 => You give away between 1% to 20% of your company. => A maximum of 15% is recommended at this stage. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐈 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐈'𝐦 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡? => the chemistry is the most important => we need Smart, not Fool Money => let's find the Angels/people with whom we have the chemistry and vision => and also who can offer expertise on the main business pillars that your startup has and has time to invest their knowledge and expertise in you. for this, I would think about my startup in this way >> What are the Core Foundations of this Startup? >> for ex: 1. Core Business Skilss 2. Specific Business Industry Expertise 3. Advanced Technical Expertise in the Technology we are developing it 4. Go-To-Market expertise // Sales - Marketing and I would find the right people who want to invest € and come to the table with the right expertise on my main business pillars. if you need help attracting the right angels - on how to prepare - & how to open doors & build a relationship with them I'm a message away. cheers, and let me know if you have questions or want to approach in-depth subjects on this topic. #fundraising #techstartups #founders #preseed #adigheorghe

https://lnkd.in/eK6jSWGp Israel’s startup frontier: the untapped potential of early-stage investments-- "...the early-stage investment gap in Israel is not merely a challenge; it is also a unique opportunity for discerning investors. With valuations at half of those in Silicon Valley (on average $7m vs. $14m) and competition far less fierce, the current landscape offers fertile ground into a market known for its relentless drive and innovation. This, coupled with a high-tech sector focused on global markets, means a tech ecosystem far less sensitive to local factors."

140+ meetings with 20 international VCs? Easy! 🙌 This is what startups in the final phase of YEP Acceleration are working on now. This phase is one of the most intense, as founders must actively pitch for several weeks during office hours and build a network with investors. 💰 🌎 We deliberately organized so many meetings for them because our goal, together with the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, is to bring these startups to the international market and help them attract investment. We held a series of preparatory lectures and workshops to make these meetings as effective as possible for startups and investors. 🎤 In particular, Anton Waschuk, Director of Innovation, Education and Entrepreneurship at UMAEF, held a group session on fundraising, and Andrii Smyk, co-founder and COO at INPUT SOFT, held a workshop on investor communication. We are confident that all this will help the teams build the right fundraising strategy and prepare them as much as possible for the Demo Day in July, where they will be able to receive $25k of equity-free investment. 🔝 📌 The YEP Acceleration is supported by the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, which supports initiatives to promote reforms in Ukraine and transformational projects. Program partners: USAID Competitive Economy Program in Ukraine (USAID CEP), Ukrainian Startup Fund, Cisco, Genesis Tech.

Europe Shouldn’t Emulate Silicon Valley – It Should Embrace Its Own Strengths. The temptation for Europe might be to try and emulate Silicon Valley’s success by copying its playbook. But this would be a mistake. Europe’s unique advantages – lower costs, a rich talent pool including high female labour participation, government support, and a resilient mindset – give it a distinct edge that doesn’t need to mimic the US approach. 🌎Latam, the quest for a new Gold! | The Venture Opportunity📈 Access to capital is top of mind when discussing what #Latam needs in order to catapult its entrepreneurial ecosystem. While some see challenges, others, a great opportunity 🚀 🚀. There seems to be a generalised agreement around the positive impact startups are bringing to the region. They are helping reshape whole industries, for the better, through more competition and efficiency, while at the same time developing talent. Worth digging in, there is not just only talent creating amazing companies. There are returns to back up the opportunity 🙌🏽 This process, while young, sets the stage for a regional tech enabled (r)evolution. #innovation #growthmindset #founders #startups #digitaladoption #ditigaltransformation #vcfunding #vc #venturecapital #entrepreneurs #regulation #ipo #assetmanagement #capitalmarkets #uk #europe
