The industry is undergoing an epoch-level change. I shared this a few months back and reading Ryan, Chris and Sheloman’s thoughts on all this recently has me reposting it: Games as a Platform - and the accompanying tools that come with it - have completely changed the calculus for players and how they decide to spend their time. All of these waves exist at once for players and the biggest earns the biggest share of their time and money. #liveservice #gamepublishing #videogameindustry #gamedevelopment

Games as AI is gonna take all out in few years, we gonna have to rethink everything. I just want to go to gamestop, check all the shelves, pick game that a friend told me its good, wanna think about the game by looking at its cover and booklet that comes with on the way back, feel excited..All this is gone :(

No stand-out titles makes it all meaningless. Me-too games that have taken over games as a service is a lose lose situation long term. Consoles that don’t have a reason to own the platform also suffer from being I can play that on pc. Nintendo is the only one who understands you have to have platform specific titles to sell a console.
