What am I doing now? Quarter horse Kenny is the latest in my Temp Horse training series. So interesting how the second I settle in the saddle, I either instantly gel with the horse or find myself searching for the connection in what can inadvertently become a Chip and Dale chipmunk dance of politeness. "After you, oh no, I insist, you go first." And so we stalemate in hesitance. I'm working on bringing that right balance of direction and listening essential to creating what is marketable, and encouraging the best from team members who share my commitment to excellence (not perfection which is a wasteful pursuit.) When they fail, I will fix the root of the problem and then move on to the next grade level. It's the same process for colt starting horses.
