The Dreaded Skills Gap...... If you don't feel like you have the skills to break into finance or tech here are some actionable steps to get yourself up to speed. No LinkedIn filler just advice! 1.) Lock in on the basics. Know financial statements, valuation techniques (for both companies and projects), International finance (especially FX rates), and familiarize yourself with the rules of accounting (sorry finance majors you gotta do it). Speciality courses that align with the industry you want to work in are also helpful (i.e. manufacturing finance, energy finance, etc.) 2.) Have basic computer and data skills. Be good at excel (if you find yourself using your mouse to "click-edit" a cell then you are not good at it). Practice building models and try to use it as much as possible to get familiar with it. Learning SQL or Python is also helpful for working with large datasets. The more ways you can learn how to glean insights from data the more valuable you are to the industry. 3.) Get good at talking to people. Often being a genuine person who can communicate both naturally and professionally is a valuable skill. This also includes having empathy for those around you and figuring out how to create efficiencies that save others time (rather than giving them more work). Everybody loves the person that saves them time & hates the person that always asks for something! Ok now for the shameless plug. If you have not yet signed up for Sunday's workshop do it now! If you are serious about breaking into finance or tech this session is a must attend (and it's free). After training, what next? Well, e no really concern me shaaa. After all, Aminigbo Paul will always say "When we get to the river, we'll cross it" but then I've seen most people who get to the river and then realize that there's neither bridge, boat nor canoe to help them cross over. They asked us this question while in school but we chose not to answer it because, of course when we get out of school, we'll find our way. During NYSC, they also asked us AFTER SERVICE, WHAT NEXT? But we chose to let it slide. We just wanted to serve and get out. As God may have, you've found your way to acquiring a Tech skill and you still think it's not time to ask yourself that same question you've been avoiding. If you won't, I will. After your training, what else? After paying to learn that skill, do you bother to ask them about their post-training package? Or e no concern you. Every institution has a post package for all the trainees and most times, they are only revealed on request. So you see why you don't need to wait till you get to the river? It's your life, you have to be intentional about it. Simple questions like "AFTER THIS DATA ANALYTICS TRAINING, WHAT ELSE" will save you from being stranded when (if) you eventually get to the river. Your post-training package can include information on how to master what you've learned, as well as opportunities for internships or employment. During our training programs, we provide an additional post-training package to assist you in comprehending and implementing everything you have learned. This package, which lasts for 3 to 4 weeks, is a crucial period during which we guide you on how to apply your acquired knowledge to solve real-life problems. We don't just leave you comfortless after training, we help you answer the question: AFTER LEARNING, WHAT NEXT? https://lnkd.in/dVadTqpi

🚀 Day 27/45 of the 45-Day DSA Challenge by Arsh Goyal! 🚀 Today’s problem-solving journey included: 1. Disconnect Path in a Binary Matrix by at Most One Flip -> Graph, DFS. First DFS traversal marks all traversed cells as 0. Second DFS traversal checks if a path is found. If a path still exists, the network has no single point of failure. 2. Kth Largest Element in a Stream (LC POTD) -> Priority queue. 3. Best Time to Buy and Sell Stock II -> All ways, DP. "The jobs are here, where are the people?" We are facing a significant skills gap challenge. By 2030, Deloitte predicts we'll have 2.1 million unfilled manufacturing jobs. That's 2.1 million jobs up for grabs in manufacturing alone. Luckily, we can bridge this gap. Integration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in K-12 schools helps align local schools with local industries, creating a pipeline of local talent trained for the current job market needs. A practical example of this type of partnership is playing out right now in Georgia, thanks to their CTAE (Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education) program. In the 2022-23 school year, Georgia had over 13,000 employers participate, with 27,594 placements. Good job, Georgia! (Special shoutout to the Georgia Department of Education and Kyle Jones Ed.D., Director of Academies and CTAE at Gwinnett County Public Schools, for their leadership in this initiative.) This isn't just about filling jobs—it's about creating meaningful careers and driving economic growth. Here's what happens when schools and local industries align: → Students make informed career choices with clear post-graduation paths → Schools gain industry expertise and relevance → Companies cultivate a pipeline of skilled future employees PathSpark works in coordination with CTE programs and K-12 by helping students match their interests with in-demand career paths. As a result, → students find a satisfying career → local industries find local talent Win-win. Know anyone who could benefit from self-led exploratory career design? 👉 PathSpark

Day 8 of the 45-Day DSA Challenge with Arsh Goyal: Today was incredibly helpful in deepening my understanding of arrays. I focused on mastering a few key concepts and techniques that are essential for solving array-based problems effectively. I gained clarity and confidence in handling different scenarios involving arrays. The insights and patterns I discovered made the DSA session both productive and enlightening. Excited to apply these learnings in upcoming questions and continue this wonderful journey! (Question 79. Word Search is still not able the understand.) #CrackYourInternship or #CrackYourPlacement #DSAChallenge #Arrays
