Dear Qatar Airways, I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding the prolonged delay and lack of communication following the selection process for the cabin crew role. It is extremely disheartening to have been kept waiting since November, especially after signing the e-offer and being led to believe that we would soon begin our journey with your esteemed airline. What exacerbates this situation is the apparent discrepancy in the treatment of candidates. It is very concerning to observe that candidates from European countries are receiving their dates of joining (DOJ) within a month, while many of us have been waiting for feedback for eight months. This gives the impression of preferential treatment and raises questions about the fairness and professionalism of the process. We believe that all candidates, regardless of their nationality, deserve to be treated with the same level of respect and consideration. We understand that operational requirements and other factors might influence the onboarding process. However, it is profoundly unfair to keep candidates, who were selected and offered positions, in a state of limbo for such an extended period. This prolonged uncertainty is not only causing significant anxiety but also preventing us from pursuing other career opportunities. We are left in a position where our lives are on hold, unable to make plans or move forward. We kindly request that you provide clear and transparent communication regarding our status and an estimated timeline for our onboarding. It is crucial for us to have some clarity so that we can make informed decisions about our future. We urge Qatar Airways to consider the impact this delay is having on the lives of its prospective employees and to take steps to address this issue promptly. Qatar Airways I wish to share my recent experience with Qatar Airways, as it highlights some significant challenges faced during my travels. On May 24, 2024, my daughter and I embarked on a journey from Kolkata to Vancouver via Doha and Seattle. Regrettably, our journey was marred by substantial delays and disruptions. The initial leg of our flight from Kolkata to Doha (QR541) was delayed by 3 hours, causing us to miss our connecting flight. Despite our efforts, we faced another setback when the subsequent flight from Doha to Seattle, QR719 on May 25, 2024, was also delayed, resulting in yet another missed connection. Upon arrival in the United States, I encountered a lack of assistance from Qatar Airways staff. Instead, I was directed to contact customer care, which proved to be challenging as my phone was on roaming. Gratefully, with the help of Alaska Airlines, I managed to secure a night flight to our final destination. What was meant to be a 26-hour journey stretched into an arduous 56-hour ordeal due to the delays and missed connections. I firmly believe that such extensive disruptions warrant compensation for the distress and inconvenience caused. In addition to the flight delays, there was significant miscommunication regarding luggage handling. Both in Kolkata and Doha, Qatar Airways staff instructed us to collect our luggage at our final destination, Vancouver. However, upon arrival in the USA, we were informed that we needed to retrieve our luggage in the US, proceed through immigration, and then recheck our baggage. This inconsistency and lack of coordination between different airport locations led to confusion and unnecessary hassle. It raises questions about why this crucial information was not communicated to the staff in Kolkata and Doha. Such miscommunication only compounded the challenges of an already disrupted journey.
