Exciting Updates in Australian TNE Programs! The Australian government's recent announcement on exemptions to the cap on international student enrollments is set to drive increased interest in Transnational Education (TNE) programs. This strategic move is expected to reinforce Australia's commitment to high-quality international education partnerships. Exemption Criteria for TNE Programs: * Programs with an overseas component forming part of an Australian higher education award * Co-delivered programs registered with in-country regulatory authorities as Australian twinning or joint programs * No more than 60% of the course duration completed in Australia Programs in place before July 1, 2024, or newly assessed eligible arrangements The government’s aim is to promote TNE programs that uphold Australia’s educational integrity and support the education needs of key bilateral partners. This announcement aligns with recent discussions at the AIEC conference, highlighting sustainable and innovative international education approaches. With these exemptions, TNE interest is anticipated to grow, creating more pathways for global learners to achieve Australian qualifications. #InternationalEducation #TNE #Australia #HigherEducation #BEFOED #StudentMobility #GlobalPartnerships #EducationExcellence #StudyAbroad

The Times Higher Education consultancy team are delighted to have collaborated on the new British Council Transnational Education report, reviewing opportunities for UK TNE across SEVEN different countries in the Central Asia, South Caucasus and Western Balkans regions. The report findings are based on research that included interviews with senior stakeholders from ministries of education and universities, policy and regulatory reviews, and data analysis. Full report here: https://lnkd.in/e72W6ivS -As to be expected across such a diverse set of countries, there are no unifying conclusions. One thing we can say for certain is that UK higher education retains an excellent reputation across different audiences in these countries, and some are readily poised to enhance their partnerships and TNE opportunities with the UK sector. -In terms of sheer numbers, Uzbekistan is an emerging important TNE hub, and it will be interesting to see whether TNE can support the country's broader internationalisation ambitions in higher education. Kazakhstan is also a growth market for TNE, with a new UK operations there underway in the last year. -The countries of the South Caucasus all have their unique features and advantages; whilst UK TNE numbers are relatively smaller here than in Central Asia, there is a fantastic desire to engage with the UK, with a few standout TNE partnerships and some opportunities to explore new models of delivery. -UK TNE in the Western Balkans is currently more orientated towards distance and flexible learning delivery modes- which could be attractive to those institutions and EdTech companies developing strong portfolios in online learning. This was a real team effort, so thank you to my colleagues David Prentice for leading the final report authoring, and Allison Cheung for her support with data analysis and research. And though not acknowledged in the credits (sorry!), further research contributions from Louise Lee, Shiraz Hassan, Angela Silva and James Hore. We also benefitted from the insight and support from the country leads Addeh Hovassapian CMrg MCMI, Zaza Purtseladze, Nargiz Hajiyeva, Nadia Trubova, Jamilya G., Majlinda Mazelliu Finally a massive thank you to Nilgün Felchner and Nicola Norton for steering the project from the British Council and leading to a rewarding final report- we hope as always, the sector will find this useful for future TNE strategy #TNE #UK #HigherEd #BritishCouncil #TimesHigherEducation
