Florida sued over lab meat ban, winter wheat planting is underway, and USDA to allow H5N1 vaccine trials for dairy cows. Farmer confidence is falling, Impossible and Motif end legal dispute, and a new app matches strangers for a meal. Common questions I get from ag stakeholders: What #agtech should I be looking for? Do I need agtech? Where do I go to find the right agtech? What should it cost? It’s difficult to navigate the dynamic agtech landscape. We could use a trusted advisor in agtech. The agtech entrepreneurs that become trusted advisors will unlock enormous value. I’ll explain how in this week’s newsletter. #agtechfriday #agriculture #advisor #trust #startups #innovation #trustedtech #agtwitter #agtechadvisor https://lnkd.in/gBgcGDEy

Throughout the journey it is critical to continually remind yourself and include employees and stakeholders of the foundational values and culture of the company. However, after the company is sold you have no control of that, so that’s why so many entrepreneurs start up again.

#GiveCRISPRaChance In this article CEO of the UK-based startup Phytoform indicates that the changing regulatory landscape in England has been helpful for the company’s development. 🍅 In the AFN article, Phytoform says its gene-edited tomato could produce ‘up to 400% more fruit’ in a vertical farm which could be a boon for local tomato production around the world. The UK imports the majority of the tomatoes consumed in the UK . The company is scaling up its production and hopes to get a jump start when the implementing rules for precision bred plants gates established https://lnkd.in/ecvussuq. This shows that the Regulatory Environment is the most important factor that stimulates or delays innovation. #sustainableagriculture hashtag#NewGenomicTechniques

For Agtech startups, there are many challenges with scaling and providing a long-term viable solution to the farmers 📈 CEO of InnerPlant Shely Aronov talks about the importance of partnerships and route to market: “It's not about the technology itself. Disruption and breakthroughs are more difficult than we think. Bold startups that aimed to disrupt the $1.5 trillion agriculture sector are facing challenges. Indigo Ag Inc., once a major player in grain trading, has cut jobs, while Farmers Edge Inc. was acquired for a fraction of its IPO value. Gro Intelligence, recognized by Time magazine, is shutting down. The lesson learned: applying Silicon Valley strategies to farming is not as simple as anticipated. Changing the agriculture industry, especially during economic downturns, proves to be a significant hurdle. Traditional industry leaders are also offering advanced services, adding to the competition. However, many startups struggle to connect with farmers. #AgricultureSector #Startups #IndustryChallenges #TechInFarming

Chick-fil-A changes its antibiotic use policy, bird flu is spreading to different species, and the Baltimore Bridge’s impact on ag. Uruguay allows gene-editing, CA pork prices up and the purple tomato hits the market. Software versus hardware; it’s a debate that #agtech needs to have. I argue that agtech needs more hardware than software. Why? Let’s debate that further in this week’s Agtech Action. #agriculture #startups #innovation #software #hardware #tangible #intangible #venture #agtwitter #scale #agtechfriday https://lnkd.in/gbifBSkm

Farm income declines for the third year, Campbell’s to drop soup from name, and how to sell an ‘ugly’ vegetable. Argentina buys US soy, farm bill extension more than likely, and the Syngenta Foundation is closing. Agtech is ready for liftoff. The wave of funding, and interest, in #agtech has not slowed down but adoption of agtech has. Why? I argue we are experiencing technology fatigue. It’s a legitimate concern but entrepreneurs can navigate it. I’ll explain how in this week’s newsletter. #agtechfriday #startups #tech #fatigue #innovation #agriculture #techfatigue #agtwitter #tiredbutnotout https://lnkd.in/gn3Z4RSY

US undercounts bird flu cases in cattle, consumer prices rose in July, and Benson Hill stock listing moves to the Nasdaq. AI represents 41% of US VC deal value, Google may get broken up, and ‘fire the agriculture secretary’ says a political candidate. Building agriculture technology is hard. Staying focused as #agtech is tough with volatile trends, capital markets and news cycles. It is easy for agtech to get distracted. Agtech needs to avoid distractions. What are those? Check out this week’s newsletter to learn what those are. #agtechfriday #agriculture #startups #innovation #distractions #dontgetdistracted #agtwitter #marketdistractions https://lnkd.in/gkRRyh4U
