If you measure your success just by how much you can ‘disrupt’ an industry or set of methods, then you can apparently create ruin and cause chaos and still declare yourself a winner. We are afforded a great many examples of this in AI, but I would also include many of the now bankrupt first-wave vertical farming startups who tried to ‘disrupt' their way out of production problems. Whilst your core concept should have its unique elements, the operating efficiency of any business is still going to be determined to a greater or lesser extent by how effectively it is able to carry out well-established processes.
