💬 Essential 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 Partner 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 Intimate Partner 𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (IPV) 💬 One of the most prevalent 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 is the assumption that 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 (𝘐𝘗𝘝) is simply a partner conflict. However, there's a 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 that professionals—and anyone working in the field —need to understand: In cases of partner 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭, 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 partners 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 without fear of revenge or negative consequences. It's a situation where, even in disagreement, there’s mutual respect and safety. In intimate partner 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, creating a climate of fear and often silencing the victim’s voice. Understanding this distinction is essential for effective prevention and combating of intimate partner violence. #IPVisNotAConflict
