70 pages since May 28. This is how my digital journal looks now. It’s crazy to see that I’ve writtem almost 1 MB of thoughts, ideas, plans and startegies to make my online journey something I’m more accountable for. The clear structure is what makes it nice to scrill through and jump from one section to another. I have dates and hours and paragraphs are divided by page breaks, so it’s more clear how many pages a certain writing session had. But all that’s not really that important. The important lesson here is I tend to overthink, over-analyse and other-stress on many things. The good part is, I now have ideas for days, weeks and months ahead. Acting on them is easier when you’re accountable.

How wide is my Information-Action Gap? 💎 The time lag between receiving information and acting on that information is what I call the Information-Action Gap. 💎 If it's wide, there's a long delay between information and action. If it's thin, there's a short delay between information and action. An observation about the highest performing people I've been around: They have a razor-thin Information-Action Gap. They gather information and advice like the rest of us, but unlike most, they also act on it almost immediately. Note that action can come in various forms: Process and reject new information or advice as unuseful. Follow up on new information to dig deeper. Teach new insight to someone to cement learnings. Incorporate new information into existing routines and process. The key is that new information does not lie fallow—uncultivated, unused, unproductive—for very long. #BiasForAction

I've published my very first newsletter! Well, sort of. Technically, I've had a Substack for a long time and have published over 180+ articles (some not-so-long, some so long they could probably be books themselves!). So I do publish regular 'articles' - one was earlier this week as it happens. But as I'm experimenting more with content right now, I thought it was about time to have a regular newsletter with a certain format which shares different ideas and resources on a certain theme. So the first is all about a very weird and wonderful subject - holistic thinking. What actually is it and how can it make you a better learner, thinker and doer? Check out the link to the first newsletter in the comments! (And please feel free to give me feedback so I can improve for next time!)

Does it bother you when someone leaves you on read for hours or days? Please read this article to learn about the most digitally positive, optimistic piece of literature I've read. Instead of using terms like lazy and uncaring and procrastinator and attention deficit, they prescribe those that take a while to respond to texts as mindful, deep thinkers, introspective, and value-driven. This article contains the sort of writing I want to do to flip the script on the perception of common digital practices. https://lnkd.in/gApghYvw

"Everybody hates feedback," writes creative director and lecturer David Langton this week on Medium, "yet that’s what makes an OK project into a great one." In his piece on how much editing goes into even just a letter in The New Yorker, Langton shares how his short note to the magazine last year went through at least three rounds of revisions before getting published. His bigger takeaway: While we often think of revisions as mistakes, by building them into a process, they become just another integral step towards making things better. Isn't that what we're all trying to do, turn our OK projects into great ones? And isn't it humbling to realize you really can't do that just all by yourself? Journalists! TIMELESS CONTENT I started a personal knowledge management project that was to deal with consolidating and streamlining of the knowledge I had captured and stored. This goes down right to the number of files I had and clearing them out if they did not hold any future value. Here are some realizations I had as I was doing this exercise: 1. We have a dearth of truly timeless content and learning. 2. The current content is nowhere close to those such as Carl Jung, Charles Darwin or even authors such as Harper Lee. 3. The longevity and the contextual nature of religious texts need to be studied and understood if one wants to write to leave a long-term impact. 4. Social media and the speed of content production has led to the forgettable content and click baiting.

The way I see it, there are five gravitational forces of content mediocrity. They’ll suck even the brightest "thought leaders" into a black hole of imprecision. - Using abstract language - Defraying responsibility - Perpetually rushing - Fearing simple words - Yearning to sound sophisticated All perfectly understandable, by the way—these forces affect us all. They are laws of the capitalist work universe. They are also resistable. Fenwick #contentmarketing #b2bmarketing #content https://lnkd.in/gPh_Jr6z

It's scary to hit 'publish' for the first time. But after a few times... Well, it is still scary. Eventually, after 100s of published pieces, you would think the fear goes away... It doesn't. You learn to adapt. You learn to focus on your next piece. You learn to see your published work as data. You learn to detach yourself from your published work. And that's when you see progress. Just know this: You have to hit that publish button every time. As you did for the first time, in fear. You do it for the 1000th time, ignoring fear.
