Starting yesterday and continuing today, Día de los Muertos is a time to remember and celebrate loved ones who’ve passed. In many cultures, it's not about mourning. It’s about cherishing memories, stories, and legacies. At BeyondWill, we’re reminded of why we do what we do: to help families protect the legacies of those they love, to ensure that stories, assets, and dreams are passed down exactly as intended. This tradition reminds us that leaving a legacy isn’t just about wealth; it’s about love and connection. So, today, light a candle, share a story, and honor the lives that shaped your own. And if you’re thinking about how to keep your own legacy alive, we’re here to help.

There are many traditions and learnings I’ve embraced in my life. Día de Los muertos is my favorite one. A time to honor and celebrate the lives of those who came before. A time to remember who they were and their legacy in our lives and our family today. It’s a good reminder of life’s dualities: life and death, love and hate, day and night, light and darkness. This is a also a perfect time for reflection on how we are living our lives. Are you listening to your heart? Are you doing your best to leave this world in a better place when you transition to the other side? What are the contributions you’d like to leave behind? How would you like to be remembered? These are questions I do my best to keep in mind as I continue my journey.

The day after Memorial Day, I sit here thinking about the impact of past relationships and the memories we hold of them. Memorial Day exists to honor and remember those who have served our country and each of us, giving up their own lives. Memories get formed through our experiences and the emotions we had during them. They get stored in our minds and bodies. Then those memories pop up seemingly out of nowhere. And we have a holiday that brings those memories to the forefront. Sometimes they feel good, others not so good. What if holding onto the memory is keeping you and that relationship stuck in a pattern loop? A loop of recalling the past, whether the memory is joyful or painful. Today, I sit here sitting with, experimenting with, and embracing the notion of replacing memories with love. Love for the person, their lives, and their legacies. I sit here realizing the memories I keep of past relationships is not about them, but about me. It is time for me to release the memories about them and simply love each person who has touched my life one way or another instead. It's a different way of contemplating the life of loved ones who are no longer with us. #DrDarHawks #therelationshiphealer #selfrespect #understanding #beyourbestself #maturity #thatslove #compromise #youcompleteme #empowereachother #respectothers #beyourtrueself #bebravebeyou #realrelationships #selfrespectfirst #icompleteme #selfrespectiskey

Raymond Malone, Fairness and Construction Board, 414 E 12th Street, 4th Floor East Kcmo. ( LETTER BEING IGNORED) (PART II) April 16, 2024 Quinton Lucas, Mayor City Council, All Districts Cc: Brian Platt, City Manager Cc:Jaime Guillen, CREO Director City of Kansas City, Missouri City Hall, 29th (Mayor) Kansas City, Missouri 64106 Honorable Mayor and City Councilpersons, These illegal and unethical practices have also dissuaded business retention, growth and success for not only disadvantaged businesses but also majority owned businesses. As from the day the Fairness in Construction Board was established, passive participation in race, color, national origin and sex-based discrimination by our local government have re-emerged and has had a ripple effect within the construction community resulting in abusive procurement, oppressive fiscal policies and procedures. These divisive tactics are a direct result of the de factosilencing of the Fairness in Construction Board. The Board has been deprived of decades-long basic monitoring and reporting as required by City Code, Section 3-463(11). Specifically, the lack of transparency by the Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity Department Director and the Mayor’s office has adversely affected the Fairness in Construction Board’s ability to perform our duties effectively and enjoy a positive, inclusive atmosphere. Specific Concerns: 1. The Department lacks the basic operational ability to answer telephones and respond to messages, return calls or follow up when information is requested. Although the board has requested organizational information, including a Department organizational chart with contact numbers, roles and responsibilities information, none has been provided. 2. The Disparity Study remains a concern. To date we have received misleading or false information concerning the status of the study. We now have been informed that the solicitation was opened back up recently without any explanation. As you are aware, the MBE/WBE Program depends on a current and accurate study. 3. There have been multiple resolutions that are being considered by council that would directly affect the MBE/WBE ordinance (PNW, Size Stds, etc.) We were not made aware of these resolutions by the Department and when asked the Department staff seems to have little or no information. 4. The unequal treatment in city-funded and assisted construction projects and procurement procedures and the opportunities for certified, small disadvantaged firms particularly in the city departments and EDCKC-led projects. Specifically lack of uniform reporting and enforcement on city andincentivized projects. 5. Reports of hostile work environments on construction projects and failure of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity Department to respond and investigate pursuant to the duties under City Code, Chapter 3, Article IV and Chapter 38. Including the lack of investigation into abusive treatment and payment violations.

Prioritize the invaluable gift of #time for our dear #family, beloved spouse, and precious children. Here are some practical ways to ensure that you are giving enough time to your #family: 1. Establish Priorities: Set your family as a top priority in your life and make a conscious effort to allocate #dedicated time for them. 2. Create a Family Routine: Develop a regular family routine that includes #specific times for shared activities, such as meals, outings, or dedicated family time. 3. Limit Distractions: Minimize distractions, such as excessive use of #electronic devices or work-related obligations, during designated #family time. Be fully present and engaged with your loved ones. 4. Plan Quality Time: Schedule dedicated quality time with each family member individually and as a whole. This can include activities like going for #walks, #playing #games, or having #meaningful conversations. 5. Communicate Openly: Foster open and honest communication with your family members. Encourage them to express their #needs, #concerns, and #desires for spending time together. 6. #Share Responsibilities: Involve your family members in household chores and responsibilities. This not only strengthens bonds but also allows for shared experiences and quality time. 7. #Set Boundaries: Establish boundaries between #personal and #work life. Create specific time blocks for work and prioritize family time during non-work hours. 8. #Be Flexible: Adapt to the changing needs and schedules of your family. Be willing to adjust your plans and routines to accommodate special occasions or unexpected events. 9. Lead by Example: Show your family the importance of spending time together by actively participating and demonstrating your #commitment to family bonding. 10. Regular Family Check-Ins: Have regular #family meetings or check-ins to discuss everyone's schedules, activities, and upcoming events. This ensures that everyone is aware of each other's commitments and can plan accordingly. Remember, giving enough time to your family is a continuous effort that requires conscious decision-making and consistent action. #Prioritizing your loved ones and nurturing your relationships will #lead to a #stronger and #happier family bond.
The unconditional love of a family is priceless. That is why you should value and embrace your family at every possible moment, more than anything in life!

On this day, we celebrate the beautiful souls we’ve loved and lost. Each memory brings a smile, a tear, and a reminder of the love that still surrounds us. Though they may no longer walk beside us, their spirit lives on in our hearts and in the stories we share.
