ROI is More Than Just Numbers What defines the success of an event? I sat with some of the most brilliant B2B marketing minds at an executive roundtable hosted by The Ortus Club - Executive Knowledge Sharing to dig into this question. The conversation was anything but predictable—and it left me rethinking how we measure ROI. Here’s the thing: ROI isn’t just a spreadsheet exercise. Sure, the numbers matter, but they’re only part of the story. We talked about how events are the perfect space to build connections that go deeper than transactional outcomes. Success starts with having a crystal-clear purpose. Are you there to generate leads, nurture relationships, or amplify your brand? It seems obvious, but clarity up front saves time (and headaches) later. Another standout insight: People can tell when something feels genuine—or when it doesn’t. If your event doesn’t reflect your brand’s values in a meaningful way, it’s hard to resonate with your audience. It’s not about the fluff; it’s about showing up as your true self, even in business settings. And finally, the bold strategy that hit home: Less is more. Don’t overextend across countless events. Commit to fewer but higher-impact experiences. It's not about how many things you do; it’s about how well you do them.
