It's my final month with xneelo (Pty) Ltd and it feels like a good time to give thanks and reflect on this critical part of my career journey. From part-time consulting initially to a full-time position later on, it's been a journey of over three and a half years with this remarkable team. I've learned a few things: - When structured correctly, with a critical understanding of accountability, working as part of a self-organising team can be massively beneficial. - Consensus and collaboration, when employed responsibly, can lead to the most beautiful outcomes and working environment. - Learn about how to confront with care, it will be one of the most valuable skills you can take into your life and work. - Give people the space to agree to, plan and think about the work, and factor this into your milestones. - Trust, above everything else. It's what makes these key learnings work. Finally, there is no need to be stressed or burnt out to perform at your best and get the work done. I'm forever grateful to the marketing team for finally teaching me this at this established stage of my career, this is what a workplace can, and should be. 🌿

At 8 months pregnant, I thought "now would be the best time to take myself and bump to my first Wiser Elite event" so I did, and it did not disappoint! the dream duo Lauren Langstaff-Roberts & Izzy Bishop put together the event, Make Moves: confident conversations & career progression, with a panel of 4 professionals who've done exactly that, and it made me reflect on something else, CELEBRATION! I have yet to 🥳 my promotion to Senior Revenue Enablement Manager (6 months ago), I've been busy growing a little human, and my skills in my role, but the journey to the promotion path is what they all discussed yesterday at the event, how to prepare for it. and it now made me reflect on thinking through *how* we plan on celebration these types of achievement when they *do* happen! so, what you got my friends? Spotlight on Vicki LaBarge! I was not old enough to rent a car when we traveled, yet she still gave me a chance. I was fresh out of college, yet she gave me projects within the top accounts in the region. She came to my wedding and told me I was crazy to show up to work the next business day. Vickie wore these super high heels but she had great stature on her own. She lead the Strategic Customer Services group and our role was to assist in penetrating strategically selected accounts. I got exposure to decision makers early. I practiced executive level presentating. I learned story telling. We received training so that we could become the dissemination vehicle to the rest of the sales organization. I learned how to highlight benefits instead of features. I added a key element to my thought process : what is the impact? She allowed me the support the Hawaii sales office and I traveled to the islands regularly. Between the culture of the locals and her confidence, I started to build connections. One day, on a red eye, and as we reviewed the sales calls of the trip, she said "I think you should try sales. You would be good at it". I remember laughing as I did not believe it for a second. Who is going to buy anything from a kid who can't even rent a car?!?!? Great leaders see potential. They push to reach new heights. They offer curated feedback so you can continue to evolve. They assign you the challenges that will be steps on your professional ladder. She was so right. I loved #sales. I enjoyed the fact that no one day was like any other. I built #relationships with clients that have extended years after we transacted. I didn't sell things. I offered solutions to challenges. I demonstrated improvements in terms on money and/ or time. That was the value clients bought. Thanks to all leaders who believe and encourage the next generation of #changeagents. For me, I wasn't about getting a ride from the airport to the office. When I made my first placement back in 2020, Rob Paone and I hopped on Zoom to celebrate with a glass of Whiskey. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆; 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱." Achieving success in recruiting is one thing, and don't get me wrong, that's awesome to watch, but 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄?
