🌍 On November 14th, we observe World Diabetes Day, an important occasion that commemorates the discovery of insulin by Frederick G. Banting and Charles Best and strives to raise awareness about diabetes. 👉 Currently, 537 million people worldwide live with diabetes, and alarmingly, about 50% of cases remain undiagnosed. Type 2 diabetes makes up over 90% of all cases and can often be delayed or prevented. Major risk factors include family history, lack of physical activity, and obesity. The consequences of diabetes are severe, with three people dying every hour due to related complications. Prevention, an early diagnosis and effective disease management are essential not only to avoid complications but also to ensure a better quality of life for those living with diabetes. ⚠️ 💙Recognizing the warning signs of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes – such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, recurring infections, and unexplained weight loss – is crucial. If you notice any of these symptoms, consult a doctor for early intervention.💙 #WeAreMenarini #BerlinChemie #Menarini #WorldDiabetesDay #DiabetesAwareness

Did you know chronic kidney disease effects 1 out of 7 Americans? 😳 People often don't know they have CKD--initial symptoms are usually subtle. By the time significant symptoms emerge, the kidneys have been greatly damaged, and CKD cannot be reversed. If caught early, however, there are ways to slow its progression. People who already struggle with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, smoking, and obesity can be at a higher risk for CKD. If you think you may be at risk for chronic kidney disease, contact your physician to schedule annual kidney screenings. 👩🏻⚕️ Although the disease cannot be prevented, screenings can help you diagnose and slow down its progression. #chronickidneydisease #MikrCareConsultants #MirSeniorCareManagement

According to the World Health Organization, four out of every five people with high blood pressure or hypertension are not adequately treated, and more than three-quarters of adults with hypertension live in LMICs. In India, an estimated 188.3 million adults aged 30–79 years have hypertension. It is considered the 'silent killer' because it can damage the heart, brain, and kidneys without any symptoms. Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC) supports the National High Blood Pressure Education Month to increase awareness about hypertension and its risks associated with cardiovascular diseases and ways to prevent them. #NationalHighBloodPressureEducationMonth #Hypertension #HighBloodPressure #CardiovascularDiseases #CCDC Dorairaj Prabhakaran Poornima Prabhakaran Arun P Jose Krithiga Shridhar Dev Jindal Shifalika Goenka Ishita Rawal

"CRP Testing: Uncover Inflammation, Empower Your Health" CRP is a marker of inflammation in the body. Elevated levels can indicate acute or chronic inflammation, which could be due to a range of conditions, including infections, autoimmune diseases, or chronic inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory bowel disease. If you’re undergoing treatment for an inflammatory condition, CRP levels can help guide decisions about adjusting or continuing therapy. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a prevalent complication among individuals with diabetes, posing significant health risks. As diabetes progresses, it can damage the kidneys over time, leading to CKD. Understanding the intersection between diabetes and CKD is crucial for effective management and prevention strategies. Join us in this session with Dr. Nihit Kharkwal and Dr. Sanjay Kalra on March 29 at 9:00 p.m. to learn more about the topic to improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden of renal complications in diabetes care. Understanding the distribution of chronic kidney disease (CKD) risk factors among American Indian & Alaska Natives is important because certain risk factors, such as diabetes, are increasing among this population. By identifying CKD early, our nurses can help implement interventions and lifestyle modifications that slow disease progression, reduce complications and improve patient outcomes. Before people develop type 2 diabetes, they almost always have "prediabetes"—blood glucose levels that are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a progressive condition, and a person’s glucose could have been elevated for years by the time he or she is diagnosed. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control, 86 million Americans—more than one out of three—have prediabetes. Unfortunately, 9 out of 10 people with prediabetes don’t even know they have it, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This is especially unfortunate because without lifestyle changes, 15 percent to 30 percent of people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within five years. To find out if you may be at risk for Type 2 Diabetes, we encourage you to take our (anonymous) Diabetes Risk Assessment! https://lnkd.in/gfN5hhxU #MarinHealth #Diabetes #T2D #DiabetesPrevention #BradenDiabetesCenter #Marin

More than half of American adults live with at least one chronic disease. And this fact excludes poor oral health which is the most common chronic disease! New Report: Tackling chronic conditions with preventive treatment (phrma.org) Prevention of chronic disease is a game changer; it improves health outcomes and drives significant cost savings. When we prevent the onset of chronic diseases, we reduce the need for expensive long-term treatments and lower the risk of related comorbidities that further burden patients and our health care system. Perhaps the best illustrator of new preventive medicines are the GLP-1 anti-obesity medicines which are not only reduce #obesity but are also showing benefit for Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. #Prevora is like the GLP-1 medicines. It prevents poor oral health at a high level, and foreseeably it will also reduce the risks of unstable diabetes, near-term #frailty, #malnourishment and other chronic disorders related to oral bacteremia and an inability to chew nutritious food.
