Launching a B2B e-commerce might seem a bit challenging, especially for customers used to placing orders the old-school way, like through phone or email. But a solid e-commerce system will make this transition seamless. It’ll handle orders from any channel and feed them right into your ERP, ensuring everyone can stick to their preferred methods without missing anything. 2. Why is ERP important for B2B ecommerce? ERP keeps your B2B ecommerce system smart and up-to-date with the latest on product availability, custom options, and delivery times, all without having to manually update everything. Thus, your customers get the info they need, right when they need it. 3. Managing pricing and discounts: How does it work? Pricing in B2B isn't one-size-fits-all, it varies by customer and product, and sometimes even by region. Instead of juggling all these details for every product and customer, many businesses use rules to automatically sort things out. This makes life easier for everyone, connecting customers with the right products faster and with less hassle. I have spent the last few years speaking with brands, wholesalers, distributors, and independent sales reps to understand their wholesale business. It is clear that B2B commerce is far more complex than D2C commerce, but it is surprising how far behind B2B e-commerce is compared to D2C e-commerce. While D2C eCommerce has an oversupply of tools, technologies, and solution providers, B2B eCommerce has limited options. The approach for wholesale is limited to 1) Adding multiple apps to your D2C store to enable basic B2B eCommerce, 2) Leveraging the limited option your ERP provides, or 3) Working with an IT Service company with no knowledge of B2B eCommerce to build a B2B eCommerce solution for you. None of these options are scalable for growing wholesale. While there are numerous exceptional D2C eCommerce experiences, I have yet to find a good B2B eCommerce site.
