I came across this insightful article by Hari Nayar, VP of Fleet Electrification and Sustainability at Merchants Fleet - https://lnkd.in/eH8c6NWi - Hari details the 5 crucial factors to consider when increasing EV's in commercial fleets. One key point highlighted is the necessity for a well-thought-out plan and understanding of the required charging infrastructure for successful transition. It's a conversation we will be having at #MOVEAmerica and I wanted to share our panel discussion - "Powering America's Commercial Transportation: pathways to accelerate charging infrastructure deployments for medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks." The lineup includes industry experts Paul Rosa from Penske Logistics, Aravind Kailas from Volvo Trucks North America, and Arun Chickmenahalli, PMP from Ryder System, Inc.. MOVE America takes place in Austin, TX, on the 24th and 25th September - reach out to me if you are interested to learn how you can participate and be part of the conversation. What are some of the key challenges facing the automotive OEs and Tier-1/2s ? The next decade will bring transformative shifts, but it won’t be without hurdles. Here’s my reading of challenges on the horizon: 1️⃣ Rising trade barriers Protectionist policies are making it harder for companies to operate globally. This will require agility, advanced planning, and strategic alliances. 2️⃣ The personal vs. public transport debate With rising urbanization city-councils are prioritizing public transportation which will limit personal vehicle demand. 3️⃣ The green energy dilemma While the focus on green energy is vital, the associated costs remain a significant challenge. How can businesses navigate this complex landscape? By staying adaptable, fostering collaboration, and innovating with purpose. The automotive industry has a history of turning challenges into opportunities, and I am confident it’ll be the same this time around. What challenges do you foresee for our industry? #automotiveindustry #barriers #mobility

🚚🔌 Scania Group offers electric trucks for all kinds of requirements! Check out the latest innovations.👇 To match a wide range of operations: 💡 expanding its range; 💡 offering batteries that last 1.3 million kilometres, equivalent to the lifetime of the truck; 💡 offering the so-called "tandem bogie"-axle and additional power take-off solutions, which allow a range of rigid-based applications to be specified without sacrificing traction or load capacity. 💬 “We are steadily adding more and more customer value and specification choices with our continuous introductions. We constantly hear stories about drivers that were sceptical at first, but then fell in love with their electric trucks.” says Fredrik Allard, Senior Vice President, and Head of e-mobility at Scania. 🤔 What truck features are most important to you? Putting #zero-#emission trucks on the road for long-haul freight traffic means challenging the rules that have guided logistics development up to now. Not only new rules on vehicle weight and size to accommodate an average of 4 extra tons and 0.9 meters length, but also a complete rethink of the logistics model. The costs for vehicles, energy, and operational difficulties still keep us far from competing with business as usual. The word I’ve heard most in these two days in Gothenburg for the annual ZEFES partner meeting is: 'chicken and egg,' meaning no market volume, no investments. However, at GRUBER Logistics we believe in this and work every day to make these solutions competitive, but it is a task that must be carried out in #partnership with customers, #truck manufacturers, and #energy providers. Is it enough to believe in it? No, of course not. We also need a regulatory framework that allows electric vehicles to become more competitive at the expense of traditional ones. That's why it was important to have the European Commission here with us today. We need a holistic project. Thanks to the great panelists together with me at Volvo Trucks headquarters.
