As the largest climatetech startup incubator in North America, Greentown Labs's startups are developing solutions and technologies to help decarbonize the largest greenhouse-gas-emitting sectors including transportation, manufacturing, electricity and energy, water and agriculture, and the built environment. Greentown is home to more than 200 startups and has supported more than 575 since its founding in 2011; these startups have collectively created more than 11,000 jobs and raised more than $7.5 billion in funding. Va Tech Wabag, a water treatment technology company, has launched the Blue Seed initiative to support innovation and startups in the water sector. The name of our impact startup CinSOIL stands for carbon in soil. The team of Dr. Tavseef Mairaj Shah, Dr. Giorgi Shuradze and Antonella Succurro, PhD is developing an AI-based software tool that supports AgriFood businesses insetting carbon emissions at the farm level. Unlike traditional methods reliant on soil sampling, the satellite data-based monitoring delivers cost-efficient and scalable monitoring of soil carbon storage.
