First CompTIA NA Executive Council meeting was today! That was a fun group to chat with and though it was a quick call - it gave me a great feeling about moving forward in this community. Thanks for Adam Proulx for jumping back on to answer my last minute question and for keeping us on track and to my fellow members (new and old) thank you for being so kind and welcoming! I’m excited for 2025 :) and also for being able to remember everyone’s names by heart by then so I can tag everyone in my posts! Today I have a video to share on Character - that very much fits with todays meeting. Adam had us do a quick introduction slide on who we as new members are. I had to consider what I wanted to share both from a surface perspective but also with the consideration that this is a team that I will be working closely with. So what do they need to know about me to be able to best work together? Each one of us is made up of many parts and at our core is our character: the set of mental and moral principles that shape us. Today I talk about considering the intent and impact of our character and whether or not we are showing up as we want to in the world. Inherently this quandary feels important to me in my quest to be understood and valued as a human. What is it about your character that you value most? Do you find that there are certain characteristics in other people that you work well with? https://lnkd.in/gayxY4ZU #character #leadership #introspection #msp #teambuilding

On This Day in 1975: Jaws Premiered! 🦈🎬. Moviegoers experienced the thrilling sensation of "Jaws" for the first time. Director Steven Spielberg & his team navigated uncharted waters to deliver an unforgettable experience. We in L&D face our own challenges & opportunities. Here’s how we can draw inspiration from the making of "Jaws": #Vision & #Creativity: Spielberg had a clear vision despite numerous obstacles. In L&D, we must maintain a clear vision and employ creative #strategies to #develop impactful #training engagements. #Collaboration: The success of "Jaws" was a collective effort of writers, actors, technicians, and many more. Our projects thrive on the collaboration of #diverse #talents, from instructional designers to subject matter experts. #Adaptability: The mechanical shark malfunctioned frequently, pushing the team to adapt & innovate. In our projects, #flexibility and quick #thinking are key to overcoming unexpected #challenges. #Engagement: “Jaws" captivated audiences by tapping into universal fears & emotions. Our training initiatives should aim to engage learners similarly by addressing #real-world #challenges and providing #practical, #relatable #content. #ContinuousImprovement: The legacy of "Jaws" is a testament to the importance of refining & perfecting every detail. In L&D, continuous #feedback and #improvement ensure our programs remain #relevant and #effective. As we work on our current L&D projects, let’s channel the spirit of #innovation and determination that made "Jaws" a phenomenon.

Absolutely LOVE this. If the Mona Lisa was for a client... (OF COURSE clients should be encouraged to give feedback, by the way. But also... 'Can we add some fireworks?' 😂)

Possibly the most important thing you'll read this Year... The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on them. Just read it straight through, and you'll get the point. 1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world. 2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners. 3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant. 4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize. 5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress. 6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners. How did you do? The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners. Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one: 1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school. 2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time. 3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile. 4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special. 5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with. Easier? The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money ... or the most awards. They simply are the ones who care the most. #PrioritizeWhatMatters #TrueValueInConnections #ImpactOverFame #AppreciateTheUnsungHeroes #HeartfeltConnections #RememberWhatTrulyMatters #InspirationalPeople #GratitudeAttitude #QualityOverQuantity #LifeLessonsLearned

Took the words out of my mouth and at the same time confirmation that I am in fact not alone in following that love. I’ve been doing design for many, many years and have been piqued by the many disciplines that fall under the category of #design. Be it #brochures, #illustrations, #logos, #websites, #software, #powerpointpresentations, #animatedicons or #videos this has always been my outlet to making sense of things, regardless of the tools #airbrush to #crayons to #computers or #methodology this is my #creativeworld.

Failure to identify and hire "mavericks" has long been a well-known issue. Doolittle's Raiders would never be possible in today's world. The current long-standing method of identitying and selecting leaders is based on a compliance model that pays lip service to innovation where ducks hire ducks. Ducks never hire mavericks, because risk-taking mavericks make ducks uncomfortable. This must change if we are to foster a winning edge and stay one step ahead of our adversaries. We must learn to value perspectives and ideas that don't fit neatly into currently "acceptable" models of thought leadership. This won't happen within the current promotion selection process. It will require a separate nomination process to identify maverick thought leaders who will become the Doolittles of tomorrow. #risktakers #innovation #culture #mavericks #CJCS #DIB #DefenseInnovationBoard #DoD #DON #Navy #EmergingTechnologies
