UrbanLink Air Mobility Orders 27 Seagliders from REGENT for Operations in South Florida and Puerto Rico How will seagliders redefine coastal transportation in South Florida and Puerto Rico? REGENT, the U.S.-based developer of electric maritime seagliders, has received an order for 27 craft from UrbanLink Air Mobility, set to operate in South Florida and Puerto Rico by 2027. UrbanLink will use REGENT’s 12-passenger Viceroy seaglider, capable of flying at speeds up to 180mph and covering 180 miles on a single charge. This partnership highlights growing interest in seagliders and their role in advancing multi-modal electric transportation in coastal regions. Billy Thalheimer, co-founder and CEO of REGENT, emphasized the significance of the agreement, noting its potential to connect millions of people with efficient and sustainable travel solutions. Ed Wegel, Founder and Chairman of UrbanLink, added that the partnership supports their mission of zero-emission travel, complementing their all-electric sea vessels and eVTOL jets. Santa Clara, Calif. /June 20, 2024 /Archer -- Archer Aviation Inc. (NYSE: ACHR), a leader in #eVTOL aircraft, today announced its ambitious plan to establish an #airmobility network connecting five strategic locations across the San Francisco Bay Area. This network will include South San Francisco, Napa, San Jose, Oakland, and Livermore, dramatically reducing travel times across the region. In partnership with Kilroy Realty Corporation (NYSE: KRC), a major U.S. landlord and developer, Archer has signed a memorandum of understanding (#MOU) to designate Kilroy Oyster Point—a premier 50-acre waterfront campus in South San Francisco—as a critical hub in this network. The collaboration aims to develop the proposed Sea Portal, a waterfront mobility hub that will support eVTOL aircraft and electric ferry operations powered by renewable energy. Archer’s innovative air mobility network is designed to offer unprecedented connectivity, transforming one-to-two-hour drives into efficient 10-20 minute flights. This initiative will significantly enhance accessibility and convenience for Bay Area residents and visitors, facilitating seamless travel to various destinations around the bay. The MOU will explore the construction of a vertiport at Kilroy Oyster Point, enabling Archer to establish key takeoff and landing sites in South San Francisco and connect with other planned vertiports in Napa, San Jose, Oakland, and Livermore. This development promises to revolutionize urban air mobility, providing efficient access to people, places, and events across the region. Credit: Business Wire

In Scotland’s remote Orkney Archipelago, the coastal hub of Kirkwall is renowned for its long links to the past. The biggest town in the region’s 70-plus islands is almost 1,000 years old, and the gateway to seven UNESCO-listed neolithic ruins dating back around 5,000 years. But Kirkwall is also evolving as a centre for the future. Its airport hosts the UK’s first low-carbon aero research precinct, the Sustainable Aviation Test Environment (SATE), established in 2020 to help develop and evaluate zero-emission technologies and future concepts for regional aircraft. As a remote location critically reliant on short-range flights, there’s probably no more apt base for such a programme than the heart of the Orkneys. Nor was there a better time to rethink the future than during the pandemic.

The Australian Federal policy support for Advanced Air Mobility is already there - CASA and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is preparing Australia for this revolution in the way we move people and goods. Now we need State and local Governments to get on board with active support to establish a new land use - the "vertiport". Promising signs that Victoria is moving forward on this - it won't be long before the first property developer puts up a Skyportz® for approval (which will bring it all to a head). Will be interesting to see whether the industry gathers around Brisbane or Melbourne for early launch use cases and this will very much depend on the Mayors of each city and their enthusiasm to lead the world in introducing this clean. green mobility option. https://lnkd.in/gnaMXC3f
