Many car manufacturers have shifted their focus back to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles due to stagnant or declining electric vehicle (EV) sales and increased competition from Chinese companies. Companies such as GM, VW, Stellantis, and Mercedes-Benz have increased their investments in ICE technology while slowing down EV production. This shift comes at a critical time as the entire European automotive industry and its industrial ecosystem faced the risk of being undermined, compelling companies to pursue unviable or undefendable competitive advantages.

Whenever I hear skeptics wondering about the viability of today’s Tier 1 automotive suppliers I have to shake my head. They have been adapting to change faster than their OEM customers for decades. And as far as the future goes, flying cars will still need seats, advanced cockpits and sustainable materials. My interview with Forvia’s Nik Endrud covers a lot of ground about how the former Faurecia is changing with the times. #forvia #faurecia #mobility #automotivesuppliers #automotiveindustry

Mercedes-Benz has updated its electric vehicle (EV) strategy, initially set three years ago, with new targets for the upcoming decade. The company now projects that electrified vehicles, including hybrids, will constitute 50% of its sales by 2030, revising the earlier forecast of achieving this milestone by 2025. Despite this adjustment, Mercedes-Benz remains committed to advancing electrification in its product lineup, emphasizing adaptation to market conditions. Furthermore, investor presentations indicate that the cost-effectiveness of electric vehicles is not expected to match that of internal combustion engine models within this decade. #MercedesBenz #EVStrategy #Electrification #AutomotiveIndustry
