Iconic auto parts retailer files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy So, the economy is doing well? - The automotive industry has suffered its share of bankruptcies this year with the most notable victim being electric vehicle maker Fisker Group, which filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on June 18. - Fisker blamed various market and macroeconomic headwinds for causing its financial distress that led to its bankruptcy. - The EV industry has been hit pretty hard outside the U.S., as 20 German EV auto parts manufacturers filed for bankruptcy in the first half of 2024, DigiTimes reported. - Auto parts companies are also having financial distress in the U.S. as well. PartsID, which operates an e-commerce auto parts retail business, filed for Chapter 11 in December 2023. - The company sells auto parts to consumers online through various websites, such as TruckID.com, CardID.com and CamperID.com. - Wheel Pros, which operates as auto parts distributor and retailer Hoonigan, filed for a prepackaged Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sept. 9 that would eliminate $1.2 billion in debt and provide about $570 million in new capital through an exit facility, according to a company statement. https://lnkd.in/gfWz32ZE

What is it going to take for the DOT and FMC to get involved to start removing pool chassis that are not street legal and to start fining these providers into submission? Talk to any contracted repair facility and each one will have horror stories of what it takes to get permission to actually repair something that needs to be fixed, if they get permission at all. Most of the time, the chassis providers will deny the request and make the shop just put the chassis out to be used again without ever being fixed. If you ever go to a lot of empty chassis, look across them, just the ones that have bent frames. It will be eye opening. If you bother to look at them even closer, it won't be hard to find broken welds, leaking hubs, brakes that are caged, retreads about to come off, brake cylinders hanging, etc. Some of these things can be found with a pretrip, but a lot is hidden once a container is placed on them. This is the exact reason we charge for daily chassis usage, even when customers pay directly to pool chassis providers. We do not haul any containers and not charge for chassis. This money doesn't make us rich. It goes into a pool of money that we use on service calls to fix these chassis once they break down. We have a new provider in town, FPPZ. Yes, their chassis look newer, but they pick the cheapest retreads on the market. We are averaging a service call on 1 of 3 using their chassis. We have yet to pull any of their 20' chassis and not have a blow out. Since they have entered our market, our service calls have increased 50% from the previous year.

How well do you know 5th wheels? Socrates: It’s not what you know, it’s what you don't. The WHY Is WISDOM. This is a moveable fixed Jost no-tilt convertible with Low Lube top plate and outboard angles used to couple Frameless End Dump Trailers. 2" increments. Not to be used on Side Dumps. Ratings for Draw Bar, Vertical loading, and Applications. Vertical load is the weight above the 5th wheel with a given payload through the trailer kingpin. Not the ground load. Subtract the bobtail weight of the drives. Calculate pusher/s - tag loading in Creep/Site mode (raised axle/s) Drawbar is the vertical load with the trailer suspended from a crane. Not GCW. Only one manufacture quotes GCW. Considerations: 1. lube plate not recommended for drop and hook 2. Pinned - Convertible - No tilt for frameless end dump 3. Kompensator for off road 4. Light weight for OTR 5. Robust plate for side dump trailer 6. Lock pin indicator 7. Inboard/Outboard mounting 8. Fixed - Moveable fixed – Sliders 9. K.P Air or manual release 10. Wheel height to 47” - 13’6” van trailer 11. 2” - 3.5” diameter K.P 12. Notch increments - OTR about 150 lbs./in. Heavy 200 lbs./in. 13. Location tied to axle loading and frame strength 14. Ramps tied to RGN’s and added strength 15. Swing/Dip to back of cab/sleeper/headache rack/CNG cabinet 16. Location tied to landing gear - Drop deck - Goose neck – Flip - Jeep 17. Today’s reefers do not affect swing/dip 18. End of frame configuration 19. Negative setting for flatbeds, Frac trailers, Huge aftermarket sleepers 20. Raise/lower chassis suspension to prevent high/low hook, etc. Check with your Sales Professional for the correct application. 8moWhy would a collision repair facility face shifting reimbursement dynamics? The shop has a Contract with the Guest. The Guest has a contract with the Insurer. Shop provides Guest with Documentation supporting the repair plan and cost. Guest pays shop for their work. Guest submits paid in full receipt to Insurer. Insurer reimburses Guest. What we know is that insurers are going to deny payment on a variety of necessary parts, procedures, etc. and have been denying this or that for decades. So why not bill the guest? Don't we have enough responsibility? Liability? Stop doing what you've always done - get uncomfortable. You will never go back to the "old way".
