CEOs of Fortune 500 companies often sit on the boards of other companies as outside directors. 15% to 20% of directors as of 2006 sat on two or more boards. According to Domhoff’s research this has proved to be a stable number over time. In addition the CEOs are members of powerful business organizations such as the Business Roundtable, the Business Council, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Committee for Economic Development, and the Conference Board.
