Great article by Surety Systems. The role of women in leadership is critical, in all disciplines and this article highlights many of the challenges women in IT face in building their IT careers including careers. To add to this discussion is looking at innovative new ways to help women get into IT. From company sponsored bootcamps, in force internships, stretch assignments in QA testing, business requirements and also joining an architecture team as part of an overall rotation program. Create an apprenticeship for High School students. Give them a flavor of different disciplines of IT, as there are so many ways to get into IT with the modern technology. Many women are discouraged from taking STEM in their early or secondary education. So finding ways to introduce them to STEM early in their careers is another opportunity to build this diverse group. Andrea Stevenson Conner has worked tirelessly on standing up a local program where High School girls have a specific STEM leadership program and mentorship of senior IT female leaders. Lastly, change recruitment to include Liberal Arts students who tend to have a very creative as well as a structured approach on more holistic problem solving. As we commemorate International Women's Day, we'd like to share a few words from our Chief Growth Strategist, Disha Solanki MSc MBA Let's honor and acknowledge the invaluable contributions of talented women in the workforce. The diverse perspectives and skills women bring to the table enrich our organizations, driving innovation and success to new heights. Female leaders play a pivotal role in shaping business performance, bringing a blend of empathy, resilience, and strategic vision. Their impact extends beyond profit margins, fostering a culture of collaboration, empowerment, and inclusivity. To foster a truly inclusive environment, it's crucial for women to support one another. By amplifying each other's voices and sharing experiences, we pave the way for a future where every woman, every age, feels empowered to thrive. A few remarkable female leaders who I follow and have significantly impacted their fields: Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo, (who I love listening to on Mindvalley) redefined leadership in the food and beverage industry with her focus on healthy products and sustainability, leading the company into a new era of growth and ethical business practices. Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors, broke barriers in the automotive industry as the first female CEO of a major global automaker. Her leadership in electric vehicles and technology innovation has positioned GM as a leader in the push towards a greener future. As inspiration for future female automotive engineers. Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook (now Meta), has been instrumental in scaling the company into a global tech giant. Her advocacy for women in the workplace through her book "Lean In" and her Lean In Circles initiative has inspired a movement towards greater gender equality in the tech industry. Sheryls’s book was one of the first books I read that truly resonated with me, another woman who had high aspirations for herself as well as raising a family. Their dedication, perseverance, and leadership have transformed their organizations and inspired individuals worldwide to dream big and achieve greatness. As we strive for a more inclusive future where every woman can unleash her full potential, let's continue to champion diversity, support one another, and create a workplace where talent knows no bounds. Here's to driven, determined, resilient, inspiring women. May we discover and connect with those women, become one and inspire the next generation of women. What does it take to bridge the gender gap in leadership and technology? Last week, I attended "Les femmes, actrices du changement : de la conviction à l’action", an incredible event hosted by Capgemini. It wasn’t just about identifying challenges—it was about sparking action. Through powerful discussions, we explored what businesses, leaders, and communities can do to create meaningful change for women in tech and leadership. 💡 Key takeaways from the roundtables: 1️⃣ Women in Leadership and Tech: In Marseille, only 20% of startups have a female CEO, and just 27% of tech teams include women. Companies must embed gender equity into HR strategies and establish clear roadmaps to foster change. 2️⃣ Cultural Shift in Companies: Long-term training programs are essential for building inclusive workplaces. Younger generations are bringing fresh perspectives and leading the charge for equality. Companies need to prioritize professional development for women and create more mentorship opportunities. 3️⃣ Encouraging Women to Take Chances: Only 20% of women apply for roles they aren’t fully qualified for, compared to far more men. Confidence and risk-taking are key to closing this gap. 4️⃣ Diversity Drives Innovation: Diverse teams—across age and gender—fuel creativity and innovation. At home, sharing responsibilities equally helps women succeed professionally. 5️⃣ AI and Gender Equity: AI risks perpetuating human biases if not trained responsibly. Capgemini’s AI Impact initiative is a step forward, but collaboration is key to ensuring fairness.
