MAICSA is having a conference on 22 and 23 Oct 2024 at the Sime Darby Convention Center where we are honored to have special guest speaker YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia. Once again there will be a diverse range of exciting sessions including well known speakers to share their views on a variety of thought provoking topics. If those have not signed up, please do so and join the hybrid MAICSA Annual conference as this flagship event is not be missed.
YB Hannah Yeoh will touch on Sports Governance which is emerging as sports excellence highly equates with social, economic and political growth. Sports Governance enables national sports to achieve greater heights as a source of national pride, joy and honor for country and its people. It also helps to renew and reinvigorates people's interest and passion to actively engage in sports through various programs, projects and policies such that it provides a source of motivation and encouragement especially engaging the youth in sports activities which helps build leadership, community training and healthy lifestyle amongst others.
Apart from the above, I am also honored to be moderating a session on how Artificial Intelligence(AI) is transforming in the light of data protection practices, highlighting current trends, legal frameworks and emerging challenges. Attendees will gain insights into the insights of AI driven data governance and risk mitigation strategies.
From the Board’s perspective, the fundamental question in relation to risk management is whether there are controls in place to govern AI? What human intervention are in place? Is there backup strategy, and what are the external risks, laws as well as regulations that must be considered?
From an ESG standpoint, what is the environmental impact with the implementation of AI? Does AI change the way the people work in an organization, and if so, is there a need for upskilling of staff and whether AI redefine roles or is there any need to redirect the workforce especially to areas where they can continue to add value which is important from a social standpoint.
As companies continue to face challenges from rapid global crises, geopolitical complexities, and global economic uncertainties, from a governance perspective, the board needs to deepen their engagement to guide companies to have resilient governance in place especially on risk management when implementing technology.
