ARE YOU MARKETING YOUR WORK? Getting recognized and appreciated is so challenging these days, despite our good work. And the probability diminishes further if we are not bringing visibility to our work through good reporting, and long term strategic marketing. First is to get the right understanding as to what constitutes good work in the eyes of those who matter. Work out action plans to consistently deliver such good work. Have strategies to manage the roadblocks. The good work needs to be made visible through good reporting. 1. Target audience-based: Report your good work to all stakeholders in a timely manner. One size does not fit all. Tailor reporting according to the needs of the respective audience 2. Pre-emptive: Focus not just on current, but also assess future risks. Keep everybody informed pf such risks as well as your suggested solutions. For one, nobody likes surprises, and second stakeholders look for solutions, not problems 3. Metrics based - Report in such a manner that will clearly show what you have achieved your goals/targets Easy right? Not at all. Organizations have protocols, and access to key players is limited. This is where we need long term strategic marketing. A. Best route is client appreciation. They have direct lines to decision-makers. Showcase your work through solutions, reports, and constructive communication. B. Partner with team members and leaders who can advocate for your work (not see you as a threat). C. Participate in cross-functional meetings, volunteer for teams, and engage in social events. This will help in building connections beyond your team. Gaining recognition, especially in large companies, requires a focused and strategic approach. Not easy. But do we have a choice? #careermarketing #visibility #professionaldevelopment #workplacetips #recognitionatwork #selfleadership #asishdatta

The more I think about it, the more there were signs that I wasn’t cut out to be an employee. I couldn’t stand it when people took credit for my work - especially when they were getting paid more than me. Especially when they were mostly my ideas. But what I hated most was being micro-managed. I had a boss who made me triple-check everything. She then got two more people to check it. The first time cross-checking, we might pick up one or two errors. But the following three times were a gross waste of time. In my silent protest, I went on a team-building exercise and made a mug just like this one. I drank from the cup - with this message emblazoned on it - in front of my boss every day. I’m not sure that she ever got the message. Wasting time remains at the top of my pet peeves. In business, we have to utilise our time effectively & efficiently. Every piece of marketing we share needs to have a point. Else it’s a waste of time sitting & writing it in the first place. If you think your marketing isn’t working or you need a better understanding of your target audience & the best way to talk to them, an Ideal Client & Marketing Clarity session is just what you need. These sessions will show you what to say & most importantly, how to write content intentionally & strategically. As long as you promise not to triple-check my work, you can book one of these sessions by sending me a DM. X2 sessions for a total of £380. Micro-managers need not apply.

“A modest man with much to be modest about”, anecdotally Winston Churchill is said to have described political rival Clement Attlee thus. Who doesn’t love an anecdote? Whether it’s an actress musing on her colourful career, a statesman laying bare his thoughts on other politicians, or a travel journalist recounting adventures in distant lands. Drawing inspiration from a FT Longitude masterclass, hosted by Meg Wright and Rob Mitchell on measuring campaign effectiveness, I have been thinking about anecdotes—their value and how to gather them. Anecdotes complement quantitative and qualitative data by providing human insights beyond metrics. For someone to share an anecdote, they have noticed something, remembered it, and been affected enough to repeat it. Anecdotes offer the "why" that metrics alone cannot supply. Anecdotes are also indicators of emerging trends. By listening to client experiences (via anecdotes), firms can identify evolving client needs, sector challenges, or market opportunities. This allows them to adapt their services, strategies, and messaging, proactively to meet client demands and stay ahead of competitors. However, getting anecdotes from busy colleagues requires encouragement. Here are some simple methods to gather anecdotes, enhancing marketers ability to measure and showcase campaign success. Like anecdotes they are informal and human methods to help form an anecdote-sharing habit without bureaucracy, or worse still, forms to fill in. 1️⃣ Gather anecdotes proactively: Get into the habit of asking for an anecdote during most conversations. 2️⃣ Lead by Example: Demonstrate the value of anecdotes by sharing your own and sharing their impact in conversations. 3️⃣ Highlight Success Stories: Showcase anecdotes in internal communications sharing how they revealed an evolving client need, how colleagues used them to develop new business, or how they enriched marketing campaigns. These three tactics will help reinforce the value to all colleagues of sharing their anecdotes. #ProfessionalServices #Campaigns #B2BMarketing #Marketing

💬 Why Do Marketers Have to Sweet Talk for Months Before Getting a Response? 💬 In the world of marketing, we’ve all been there—months of back-and-forth, endless “check-ins,” and delayed decision-making. But why does it take so long? What’s wrong with getting straight to the point, presenting value, and building a relationship from there? The reality is, opportunities don’t always wait. Sometimes, quick decision-making is essential to seize the moment, especially in a fast-paced digital landscape where timing can make or break a campaign. ✅ Effective communication doesn’t mean endless rounds of niceties—it’s about delivering clear, direct value, while also fostering a professional relationship. ✅ Transparency and trust should be the foundation, not long, drawn-out conversations that delay progress. As marketers, we understand the importance of nurturing relationships, but sometimes, success requires action over conversation. Let’s value each other’s time, get to the heart of the matter, and move forward with confidence. What’s your take? Should we prioritize faster, clearer communication in marketing, or is the slow build worth it? #MarketingInsights #BusinessRelationships #QuickDecisions #ValueDriven #ProfessionalGrowth #MarketingStrategy #TimeIsMoney

Ask This Question To Improve Your Decision Making Show me someone who is successful, and I'll show you someone who is good at making decisions. When High Score Strategies was having its quarterly #EOS meeting earlier this year, we were looking at about a dozen "rocks" - goals we wanted to accomplish that quarter. We went back and forth, around and around, discussing and debating the pros and cons of each possible goal. Finally, one of us - I don't recall who - started asking, "What happens if we don't do (X)?" We instantly gained clarity on our priorities. Once we started approaching the list of options from the perspective of what happens if we fail to make something happen, what had been a 90-minute debate was solved in 5 minutes. Examples from the list we discussed: What happens if we don't aggressively build an email list? - Answer: We are beholden to social media for our audience, and only the people they choose will see our content. What happens if we don't build out of website? 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: People will have to learn about us on social media, where we are active. What happens if we don't make video a part of our marketing strategy? 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: We will be ignoring the content type that produces the most engagement across demographic groups. What happens if we don't start making our webinars eligible for continuing professional education credits? - 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: Our content won't be as attractive to certain elements of our target markets. What happens if we don't launch a public relations initiative? 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: It will be harder for MB to secure prime speaking and writing engagements and media opportunities. What happens if we don't adopt project management software? 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: We may have more difficulty meeting deadlines, and it will be more difficult to communicate project status to our team. What happens if we don't put a client appreciation system in place? 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: We miss opportunities to deepen our client relationships. What happens if we don't launch the proprietary conference that we have been considering? 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: We miss an opportunity for a high-leverage marketing event. So I'm curious - looking at this list, and only being able to pick three, which would you pick? #unblakeable #decisions My name is Mike (Stage Name - Unblakeable) - Helping you win your best business decisions at your most critical moments.
