Having spent the last two decades in services selling, I can attest to the rollercoaster ride that is the life of an entrepreneur driven by sales. Recently, I stumbled upon a statistic that struck a chord with me: on average, it takes 209 cold calls to secure just one success. Think about that for a moment. 209 phone calls or 209 conversations or 209 opportunities to be rejected, ignored, or brushed aside. Yet, amidst all the "no's" lies the potential for that one "yes" that can change the course of your day, your week, or even your entire quarter. This statistic embodies the resilience, persistence, and sheer grit required to thrive in sales. It's a testament to the countless hours spent dialing numbers, crafting pitches, and navigating gatekeepers, all in pursuit of that elusive breakthrough. But beyond the numbers lies a deeper truth: every call, every rejection, and every setback is a stepping stone on the path to success. Each interaction teaches us something new, hones our skills, and brings us one step closer to our goals. #Sales #ColdCalling #Persistence #Resilience #SalesJourney #BusinessSuccess #SalesTips

Sarah was a bright, promising sales rep on my team. She had that natural ability to connect with people, and clients genuinely liked her. But there was a problem: her deals kept stalling. She'd generate interest, but things would always hit a roadblock or simply fizzle out. One day, Sarah came to me, clearly frustrated. We sat down to analyze her approach. I noticed she focused heavily on the features of our product and the relationship she'd built with the buyer. While those are important, I knew something deeper was missing. "Sarah," I began, "let's imagine I'm buying a new tool for my workshop. Will I be swayed more by a friendly salesperson, or by knowing that tool will save me hours of work and make my projects better?" She thought for a moment. "Definitely the time savings and quality improvement," she admitted. "Right!" I said. "Your prospects are the same. They need to see the impact – how your product will change things for the better. So, let's shift your focus." We worked together on questions that dug into client priorities: -"What's your biggest challenge right now?" -"What could you achieve if we solved that problem?" -"Would it be helpful to calculate the potential ROI together?" Sarah started presenting our solutions as answers, not just products. She shared stories of how similar companies benefited. Her sales conversations became less about "selling" and more about problem-solving. It wasn't long before those stalled deals started closing, and Sarah's reputation as a value-driven rep soared. It was a great reminder that true impact in sales comes from understanding the buyer on the deepest level. #salestips #salesadvice #salesstrategy #businessgrowth #consultativeselling #entrepreneurship

Most salespeople wait for objections to surface, reacting only when the prospect raises a concern. “Ahh, I hope they don’t mention X! 🤞” Well, hope is not a strategy! What if you took the initiative and brought it up yourself? It shows confidence and foresight, and it can completely shift the dynamic of the conversation. For instance, if you know price is often a sticking point, don’t wait for the client to bring it up. Confidently explain why your solution is priced the way it is, breaking down the ROI and value behind the numbers. Does your prospect worry about implementation being complex? Share how you’ve simplified the process for others, using testimonials to back it up. By pre-empting objections, you gain control of the conversation and demonstrate that you understand their concerns deeply. This doesn’t just neutralise objections – it builds trust. It's no longer a sales pitch you're hiding behind; you’re having a real conversation as a valued collaborator not a hard nose salesperson. Make sense? 💡 Takeaway: Don’t wait for objections to stall your progress. Address concerns before they arise, and take control of the narrative for a smoother and faster close. #michellestrydom #salesisfun #sales #success #deals #closethedeal #salestips #salesskills #buyerbehavior #salescoach #entrepreneur #youshouldknow #knowledgeispower #ceos #salesleaders #svps #businessowners

Today, I had a good laugh thanks to a creative email line that stood out from the usual spam clutter. It read: "Hoping my follow-up is taken as a professional consistency rather than an annoyance." If you've ever had to send someone a cold email, that should resonate. Whether you are an entrepreneur, a business developer, or a sales specialist, you've likely had to be a little pushy or felt that you were being annoying. Let's take a moment to appreciate sales and business development professionals' capacity to endure constant rejection. They navigate a challenging cycle of trial, rejection, and starting anew daily. It's high time we recognize and value their essential role in organizations, as Ross Pomerantz showcases best. Kudos to the individual who sparked a smile and caught my attention this morning! #Sales #BusinessDevelopment #Rejection #Creativity

When I wrote Sales Chalisa, my goal was to share the hacks that shaped my career. Starting young, I picked up on sales skills that helped me become a successful entrepreneur. Of course, I tried many things—some worked, some didn’t. 🧐 But one thing stood out: 👉🏻 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤 👈🏻 (This is the biggest hack) Early in my journey, I met a client who said, “Amit, everything you’re saying makes sense, but how do we trust you?” I wasn’t well-known, and I stumbled over my response. The deal fell through. Later, a friend said something that changed everything: “If you see your business as small, it’ll always be small.” 🤔 That hit me hard. I stopped focusing on how new we were and started focusing on our skills and expertise. And that made all the difference. 🚀 This is why I keep repeating this lesson over and over in my book— 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰. 💯 P.S. What’s your biggest sales lesson? Share in the comments! 👇🏻 #trust #growthmindset #success #consistency

"I don't wanna be salesy" If you're a small business owner or a new entrepreneur, this thought likely crosses your mind often. But here's the thing: whether we like it or not, we are all in sales. When you hear the word 'sales', it might conjure up images of pushy tactics and aggressive pitches, but the reality is far from that. Take a second and think about this: even your dog is in sales when he's trying to persuade you to throw that ball! The essence of sales is simple — it's about persuading someone to make a decision. If you're doing it right, this decision will benefit them in some way. So, how do you shift your mindset? Understand that sales is not an act of pushing something unwanted onto someone. Instead, it's about offering solutions and helping others make decisions that improve their lives or businesses. When you approach it from this angle, the entire concept of being 'salesy' fades away. Embrace the idea that you're already in sales, every single day. You're persuading, you're influencing, and you're guiding people towards better choices. Once you understand this, you can turn what might feel uncomfortable into a natural part of your daily interactions. #SalesMindset #EntrepreneurTips #NaturalSales

“Sales folks should be able to sell garbage, so it won’t be difficult to sell a lie….” 😠 That’s what I was told once (or twice or thrice, I guess) …. In my 14 years of sales experience, I haven’t sold garbage and neither have I sold a lie…. I didn’t train myself to dump things on my prospects… neither did I train myself to sell something that my prospects may never experience… Yes, I have exaggerated, but that’s not a crime, neither is that called “lying” Exaggeration helps you showcase things “larger than life”… and humans like it. (Everyone wants to be a superhero, every entrepreneur wants to be a tycoon, every business aims to be a giant) My customers like the vision (sometimes exaggerated) I show them… They like how the solution (I pitch) would take them to that magical (often exaggerated) Goal! (those +1000 customers, the next million $ of revenue, that next mega round of investment) They feel good about making that decision, they feel good about buying from me, they feel they have Won…. 🏆 I feel I’ve Won… 🏆 I don’t feel any guilt… Because I haven’t lied to them and neither have I sold them garbage!! Those are times where I feel I’m quite successful at Selling… and I want it to stay that way! 🙌 What’s your definition of sales success? #salessuccess #salesculture #enjoyselling

I speak to business owners every week who are looking for a way to scale their revenue but feel stuck — unsure of the next step to take. Most of them have built their business on referrals or word of mouth. It’s been great to get them this far, but it leaves them waiting for the next opportunity to show up. Beyond that, they don’t have a strategy for someone who isn’t already 'warm' and trusts them. So how can you get quick wins, build your pipeline, and build trust with colder prospects? Here’s where our Gateway Sales Strategy comes into play. Recently, we decided to test a smaller offer, providing a high-value, low-commitment way for businesses to get a quick win. The reason this works so well is that it lowers the barrier to entry — people are more willing to say 'yes' when the commitment is low but the value is clear. We weren’t sure how it would turn out, but the results have been incredible. Almost everyone who started with this offer has transitioned into long-term coaching, proving that sometimes the smallest step can be the perfect gateway to a bigger, lasting relationship. The takeaway? Delivering immediate value builds trust and creates opportunities for deeper engagement down the road. What small step can you offer your prospects to help them become a client and take that first step toward a bigger win?
