Food adulteration, often ignored due to lack of awareness, has led many to underestimate its serious long-term consequences. The allure of cheap alternatives has cast a blindfold over our eyes, making these risks seem negligible. Post-harvest wastage due to mishandling and inadequate storage facilities creates severe supply shortages which then is exploited by fake food mafias who flood the market with harmful adulterants, resulting in millions falling ill every day. The surprising truth is that much of this wastage can be prevented with a proper understanding of the supply chain system. Implementing best practices in storage, transportation, and handling can significantly reduce post-harvest losses and ensure the availability of safe, unadulterated food.

Food Adulteration: You like Tomato, I like Tomayto If data mining for food adulteration incidents, always remember that the US regulatory definition is much wider than that of many other countries. US “adulteration” includes everything from pesticide residues to salmonella. In some cases, the root cause may still be #foodfraud. For example, the new FDA Compliance Policy on histamine in fish. Histamine is formed after temperature abuse. This may just be poor practice. But when lied about (falsified storage records or durability dates) then it is fraud. Food safety is not always top of fraudsters’ priority lists.

What’s the Harm of using Toxic Chemicals? Many of the toxic chemicals used in food processing (like Peracetic Acid, Ammonia, Bleach, and others) not only compromise the food quality but also the safety of the employees working in the plants and have devastating effects on the planet. However, these same toxic chemicals have long been the standard for food safety to eliminate harmful pathogens like Ecoli, Salmonella, Listeria and others. Now, there’s not only a more effective way – but a safer way — to eliminate these pathogens from our food supply. It’s time for a change and we’re hopeful time for a movement “the Path to Zero Chemicals.” #nochemicals #foodsafety #innovation #pathtozero #foodsafetymatters #sustainability

Contaminated food refers to food that has been tainted or polluted by harmful substances or microorganisms, making it unsafe for consumption. This contamination can occur at various stages, including during production, processing, transportation, or storage of the food. Contaminants can include: 1: Microorganisms: Such as bacteria (e.g., Salmonella, E. coli), viruses, parasites, and fungi that can cause foodborne illnesses. 2: Chemicals: Including pesticides, antibiotics, heavy metals (like lead or mercury), and industrial chemicals. These substances may enter the food through agricultural practices, environmental contamination, or improper food processing. 3: Physical contaminants: Such as broken glass, metal fragments, or other foreign objects that accidentally get into the food during handling or processing. Contaminated food can lead to foodborne illnesses, which can range from mild gastrointestinal discomfort to severe infections and even death in extreme cases. To minimize the risk of consuming contaminated food, proper food safety practices should be followed at all stages of food production and preparation. 🍔 🥕 🥔 🧀 🥒 . . . . . . . #foodsafety #Hazard #contaminatesfood #foodspoilage #foodwastage

Quarantine of Food Products: Majorly the below reasons any Food Company used to Quarantine the Food Products. 1. Expired 2. Damaged 3. Pest infested/Rodent bitten/Spoiled 4. Recalled/Withdrawn 5. Market returns due to Complaints/Feedbacks 6. In Process Rejected 7. Rejected Raw Materials or Finished Products Can we Quarantine all these types of Non compiled products together? No because some Non Compiled products can be eligible for Rework or Reprocess based on Quality Control assessment. Each category of the above shall Quarantine seperately with clear identification based on nature of the risk. Some categories such as Pest infested/Rodent bitten/Spoiled/Expired shall go for Dumping to avoid any Cross contamination with appropriate accounting. Rejected Raw material shall go for RTV as per the set process. #Foodsafety #Quarantine #Spoiledfood #Recall #Foodprocessing #Knowledgeshare
