Crazy idea for shopify merchants ... how about you don't hold back the black Friday discount codes ... madness right? ... but hear me out... SEND THEM EARLIER ... let customers know when they're gonna go live ... before black Friday ... encourage them to favourite their items on your website and watch the traffic roll in on Black Friday when the discount code goes live.... the seasonal trend has started ... customers are already starting to make a shopping list and holding back on spending, waiting for items want to buy on a Black Friday sale right? Potential customers are way more likely to put you on that shopping list if they know there's a discount code that's gonna go live at a certain time. Make your business one of their first stores they visit and spend with because the discount codes ready for them and they have prepared for it... Put your brand ontop of that shopping list! if they are visiting your website first .. this is when they have the most cash to spend. There's a tight line of how early you release these codes ... and you don't want to cannibalise the month ahead ... so send them 7 days before black Friday.... have a check in email .... watch the wishlists grow... communicate with wishlisters. ... remind them of the go live time .... communicate on launch watch the sales roll in ... best of luck to you all this holiday season #shopify #website #sales

"Black Friday breaks sales records," says Shopify president Harley Finkelstein. And with this record come deals that aren’t always what they seem. 😏 I recently fell for one myself. A brand I trusted sold me a product three months ago for € 15. On Black Friday, the same product was listed as “on sale” for € 23,96, reduced from € 29,95. I felt very disappointed. And a little tricked. Because I really love this brand and the values of the business owner. But mostly, I realized how common this tactic is… It’s not just about creating a false sense of urgency—it’s about breaking trust. So, how can you make sure you don’t fall into the Black Friday trap? Here are three simple tips to shop smarter and stay in control: 1️⃣ Check the price history: Tools like Keepa show you if the sale price is really a discount or just smoke and mirrors. 2️⃣ Compare prices: Don’t rush into a purchase. Google Shopping makes it easy to see if another retailer offers the same product for less. 3️⃣ Look past “up to” discounts: “Up to 50% off” sounds great, but only a few items may have that big discount. 🚨 Attention Shopify Store Owners 🚨 If you don’t fully understand how Shopify’s discount system works, you could lose a LOT of money this Black Friday season. Let me clear up a common misconception: Contrary to popular belief, Shopify does not calculate discounts one after the other. Instead, all discounts are calculated simultaneously. For example: • You can’t create an order discount that applies only if the cart total after other discounts exceeds a specific amount. • You can’t say, “If Discount A is applied, don’t apply Discount B.” Shopify evaluates discounts at the same time, and based on your combination settings (those little checkboxes), it decides which discounts to apply. This approach ensures speed and performance, especially for stores with multiple automatic discounts. Imagine the nightmare of waiting for 25 discounts to calculate sequentially—customers would abandon carts in droves! 💡 Pro Tip: Take time to understand your discount rules and combination settings before Black Friday hits.
