**Addressing Nurse Shortage in New York with International Talent** New York is set to address its significant shortage of qualified nurses through an agreement to bring in skilled professionals from abroad. This initiative was formalized during a recent meeting between Phil Ramos, Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly, and officials in Islamabad. The meeting included discussions on broader cooperation in education, health, policing, and economic sectors, but the immediate focus is on enhancing New York’s healthcare workforce. Deputy Speaker Ramos emphasized the urgent need for qualified nurses in New York and expressed optimism about this new partnership. He highlighted the potential impact on healthcare facilities, which have been facing staffing challenges. Plans are underway to expedite the deployment of these nurses to New York, with additional collaborative efforts in policing and security training also in the works. From an Indian perspective, as a healthcare staffing professional working in India for U.S. health systems, this development is particularly significant. It underscores the ongoing demand for skilled healthcare professionals in the U.S. and highlights the potential for similar initiatives involving Indian nurses. India's robust education system in healthcare makes it a strong candidate for such collaborations. Addressing the nurse shortage in New York is critical for maintaining quality care and meeting patient needs. This international partnership could serve as a model for other countries, including India, to contribute to global healthcare workforce solutions. #registerednurse #rn #newyork #hospitals #pakistan #India #healthcare #jobs

The U.S. is facing a significant healthcare workforce shortage, particularly among nurses, with a projected deficit of 78,000 RNs by 2025. This shortage is driven by an aging workforce, burnout, and increasing healthcare demands. The impact on medical organizations includes rising labor costs, reliance on expensive contract workers, and strained patient care quality. Despite efforts like offering loan repayment and mental health support, the shortage continues to challenge the healthcare system. -To fix the U.S. healthcare workforce shortage: 📚Expand Education: Increase nursing school capacity and offer more scholarships and loan forgiveness. 📈Improve Conditions: Enhance working conditions with better staffing, mental health support, and competitive pay. 🔬Use Technology: Implement telehealth and advanced technologies to reduce workloads. 💫Promote APRNs: Expand the role of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to fill care gaps. 🤝Policy Support: Lift residency caps and expedite visas for foreign healthcare workers. According to the latest data from the Federal Statistical Office, Germany could face a shortage of between 280,000 and 690,000 nurses in the coming years. Additionally, the German Nursing Council (DPR) forecasts up to 300,000 vacant positions may need to be filled by 2030. With an ageing population and the number of people reaching retirement age expected to hit 20 million by the mid-2030s, it is nearly impossible for healthcare organisations to meet these staffing needs locally. At TERN, we help leading organisations bridge this gap by sourcing healthcare professionals internationally. Our pool of vetted and German-trained professionals comes with comprehensive support for immigration, relocation, and pastoral care. 🚨 Public Consultation on the Future of the NHS 🚨 If you work in the NHS recruitment space, you're an IMG doctor 🌍, or if you're a hiring manager 🏥 in the NHS, I'm sure you're aware of the difficulties caused by hiring freezes 🧊 and under-funding 💸 for vacancies at the moment I've submitted the below 'public consultation' 📝, but it requires 'likes' 👍 and endorsements to be heard (following the login, not on here!) I appreciate it's asking a lot 🙏 but if you care about NHS recruitment and growing the NHS workforce 👩⚕️👨⚕️ it really is worth a minute of your time to follow the link, create a login and give it your endorsement in the form of a 'like' 👍 and 'comment' 💬 --------------- The NHS have 100,000+ vacancies including 10,000+ for doctors and 30,000+ for nurses. In spite of these statistics medical school places for doctors only increased by 350 for 2025 entries and nursing university courses received a 12% reduction in applications last year. The NHS also spent over £10bn (including bank and agency) on temporary staff in 2022/23 much of which is driven by long term unfilled vacancies. The long term workforce plan set out in 2023 is ambitious but lacks detail on implementation and has been followed by a period of under-investment in permanent recruitment (ironically hiring freezes have been widely implemented immediately after a plan to hire almost 1 million more staff was announced). In the long run, training places and incentives to train as a doctor or nurse will solve these issues but in the short to medium term, recruiting international doctors and nurses provides a much needed injection of staff. There are several ways in which to achieve this: 👍 Increase medical school and nursing university places 👍 Provide a central budget for Trusts to recruit international doctors and nurses 👍 Reduce barriers to entry for the international workforce (e.g. reverse decisions to limit spouse visas for some healthcare workers) 👍 Increase international training programs for doctors and nurses 👍 Embrace 'permanent' recruitment agencies to support with recruitment and relocation https://lnkd.in/dT-Wc6Wb

I believe it's crucial to address the shortage of skilled workers in Canada, particularly in fields like medicine. There is a pressing need to implement a program that recognizes the expertise of professionals such as doctors, nurses, pediatricians, and radiologists from other countries. It's vital to ensure that their skills are acknowledged appropriately once they enter the country, rather than having them work in unrelated fields like driving for Uber. #SkilledWorkers #Recognition #WorkforceShortage

The global nursing crisis, marked by a relentless cycle of workforce depletion and overseas recruitment, underscores a grave systemic failure. Governments worldwide have largely overlooked the critical role of nurses, neglecting to appropriately value their contributions. This oversight has led to inadequate retention strategies, exacerbating shortages and forcing reliance on international recruitment to fill these gaps, a band-aid solution to a deep-rooted, pervasive issue in healthcare systems. https://lnkd.in/ecPjmYtC
