You can’t improve what you can’t measure. So thank you Equileap for your Gender Equality Report & Ranking, which evaluated 3,795 publicly listed companies in 27 markets globally. L'Oréal is ranked this year N°1 in France and N°9 globally for its sound policies and concrete actions to promote gender equity both across our business and externally with suppliers and partners.   At L'Oréal, women represent half of all members of the Board of Directors, a third of Executive Committee members, and more than half of all key positions. We extend this strong commitment on gender equity to our whole ecosystem for example through our Inclusive Sourcing program, the L'Oréal Fund for Women, and the Fondation L’Oréal. And we need to remain vigilant and a strong advocate as gender equity is not a yet a given and remains a challenge in our societies. Happy International Women’s Day on behalf of the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030. At the core of Pillar 3 – Fostering Inclusivity, lies the Women’s Empowerment Principles, providing a foundation that propels our collective commitment towards gender equality. At present only 15% of the indicators of the fifth Sustainable Development Goal are on track to meet the 2030 targets, and the latest forecasts estimate that on our current track, it will take another 300 years to reach full gender equality. Today, 41 Companies of WJI 2030 are WEPs signatories. We realize that some companies are advanced, while others are evolving. It is the journey that matters, and the time is now to take action. With International Women's Day celebrated last March 8th I wanted to highlight a brand that's taking action. The Australian branch of L'Oréal is a Forward Faster participant and is taking big strides with concrete goals for 2030. They've committed to taking action on these two targets: 1) Equal representation, participation and leadership across all levels of management. L'Oréal is committed to breaking down barriers and fostering an environment where women feel supported to thrive in leadership roles. Furthermore, they have initiatives like the Bold Female Founders Program that support and invest in women-led businesses, fostering female entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. 2) Equal pay for work of equal value. L'Oréal recognises the importance of pay equity and is dedicated to ensuring women receive equal compensation for equal work. Gender Equality is an important topic for any industry, but especially for the watch & jewellery industry. Gender bias is not just a human rights issue; but also a tremendous waste of the world’s human potential. By denying women equal rights, we deny half the population a chance to live life at its fullest. As part of the third pillar, fostering inclusiveness, Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 emphasizes the importance of moving from activation to acceleration. Becoming a Women's Empowerment Principles signatory is simply the first step in activating your commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment. International Women's Day recognizes women's rights and the ongoing fight for gender equality. Meet Rebecca Watkins, our Sustainability Manager at Gina Tricot, as she shares our journey in using our influence to support women. Hi Rebecca! Could you please share more about your role at Gina Tricot? -My role as Sustainability Manager is to lead the work of moving the entire company in a more sustainable direction. It includes working with the products we sell, production, but also for instance logistics and human resources.   How does Gina Tricot use its influence to advocate for gender equality? -In general, you can say that we use our platform to raise awareness. We know that we reach many women and, in every aspect, we want to be a positive force in terms of gender equality. Whether it's our customers, employees, or women working in production.   How do you ensure that your sustainability initiatives benefit women at every level? -We prioritize maintaining strong relationships with our suppliers, regularly visiting them along with third parties to ensure our efforts in the supply chain make a real positive difference. Through partnerships with global organizations like UNICEF, we extend our reach to local communities and contribute to influencing governmental policies that support women at work.   How does your role as Sustainability Manager contribute to these efforts? -My role is to set the plan and projects as well as choose partners to collaborate with that lead to the positive impact we desire. I also try to inspire and coordinate the corporate work with my colleagues. It’s all about teamwork!

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games were truly awe-inspiring on so many levels! Beyond the superhuman athletic display, witnessing equal representation of male and female athletes marked a monumental achievement for gender equality, diversity and inclusion. While still a rare phenomenon (and it very well might be the French influence) these values resonate deeply with us at L’Oréal, where inclusivity and diversity are embedded in our DNA. From gender equality initiatives to diverse teams, we believe in beauty for each while celebrating differences. The Paris Games were a beacon of hope, showcasing what is possible when we prioritize equality and embrace diversity. United for Equality — WEPs signatories meet at the United Nations! 🌍 At the “Forward Faster: Why Collective Action Matters” Leadership Summit during UNGA79 on the 25th of September 2024, leaders from the watch and jewelry industry came together to champion gender equality. Brands like Cartier, CHANEL, Gucci and Pandora were spotlighted and shared how they are advancing on gender equality. At the Leadership Summit, Women’s Empowerment Principles launched Emerging Practices: Advancing Gender Equality in the Watch & Jewelry Industry, a collection of case studies showcasing how 14 companies are accelerating gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace, and community. 🌐 With the launch of a brand-new case study booklet, UN Women and the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 aim to showcase the transformative power companies can wield in accelerating gender equality and women’s empowerment across the workplace, marketplace, and community.⁠ The 14 participating companies range from globally recognized brands to new start-ups, from tens of thousands of employees to hundreds. They trade in a spectrum of precious metals and gems, and cater to customers at all levels of purchasing power. The case studies cover their operations at headquarters as well as in labs, factories and retail stores in five regions: Africa, the Arab States, Asia, Europe and North America.
