We are thrilled to announce that Haderslev Municipality has awarded a quarter of a million Danish kroner to youth-led climate projects! This initiative aims to empower young people to take action on sustainability and climate change. The funds, totaling 275,275 DKK, have been allocated to various innovative projects, including: - Events promoting sustainability awareness - Expansion of a clothing swap initiative - Reusable cups for school events - A community planting project These projects are not only creative, but also driven by the passion and dedication of our youth. Kudos to all the young changemakers involved and not at least to Bloomberg Philanthropies and Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University for facilitating this change via the #YouthClimateActionFund 🌱💚 Micro-actions and Habit Changes: How We Can All Make a Difference It’s inspiring to see how small actions can lead to significant changes. By breaking old habits and adopting new, sustainable ones, we can all contribute to a greener future. Simple steps like reducing single-use plastics, conserving energy, and supporting local eco-friendly initiatives can collectively make a big impact. #Sustainability #ClimateAction #YouthEmpowerment #MicroActions #HabitChange #Haderslev #Micro Hilde Skjøth Lunding

Sustainable Development is, “development which meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” –The Brundtland report, 1987. The United Nations SDG primer course for me started as an endeavor to keep myself abreast of the current global machinery and system, but it turned out to be so much more. It was a rude awakening of sorts. ➡ It is happening, right here, right now. The United Nations 2030 Agenda consists of carefully curated 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which comprises of 169 targets. It is a goal like NO OTHER, and it is THE need of the hour. Our planet has been giving us signals, but unfortunately, we have a very small opportunity window left, owing to our own past mistakes. It is unsettling that 2030 is peeking from the horizon. ➡ Government bodies, Civil servants, Parliaments, Profit-oriented private businesses, Academia, you and me- everybody has a role to play. Just take a minute to go through the link https://lnkd.in/gEAJw_6S (below) to see how individual actions from remotest parts of our country are making a difference. I promise, you will be surprised and proud at the same time, as much as I was. Which is why the 2030 Agenda is so important, because it is not just a few policymakers, this is a target for each and every one of us. ➡ Leave no one behind- the UNDP made this the core value. We can’t afford to leave another few billion of our population behind again. We Indians suffice for one sixth of the human race. Our role, as a South Asian giant, is extremely significant. This objective belongs to everyone, from the Least developed countries (LDCs) to the small island nations who are now more prone to natural calamities due to climate change. Our being online has given us immense data to create predictive models. But aggregation in these data models, is damaging and has to be rooted out. Disaggregating data based on different sections (net income, gender etc) of society should be used to get the actual picture. Sadly, major chunk of our population is still not online and devastatingly are excluded from all the data based plans and policies. 🌍 I am writing this post to appeal to my community and fellow military brothers and sisters who are in the process of joining or have already joined large private conglomerates/businesses. These days everything is linked to sustainability, not just production and consumption. For e.g. companies in supply chain greatly impact how we reuse and reduce our waste. Similarly, whatever be your role, just read about these SDGs and how you can do your bit for a greater good. The fine data models and graphs added by United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, leaves a crude impact and is alarming to say the least. Any possible solution, in any capacity, will make the burden of our accountability easier to bear, for the sake of our future generations. #SDG #UN #Sustainability

The sun may have already set, but #GivingTuesday isn't over yet! If you're looking to support an organization building a better future for everyone, I'd like to ask you to consider donating to Living Future. Every day, I am beyond grateful to work for an organization that puts people first. Not just staff or members or people who can afford to financially contribute, but truly everyone. Globally, and especially in the US, we have a system where money talks. So, how might we, figuratively, of course, make it sing? How might we create something beautiful with the words it so powerfully speaks? I think one way we can do that is by supporting businesses and organizations that value us wholly as a human being more than the opportunity for profit we might offer them. So if a future where money sings songs, creates more than it destroys and gives more than it takes, sounds like a cool option to you, then it is within your power to choose it! Every bit helps cultivate a #livingfuture, and every gift up to $30,000 through the end of the year will be matched by a generous donor! Learn more and donate 👉 https://lnkd.in/g3-_4Xz9 P.S. We're also hosting a pretty awesome Regenerative Materials Advocacy Forum tomorrow - completely FREE! Hope to see some familiar names and faces there! https://lnkd.in/gh8iAsS2
8.6M square feet of regenerative buildings. 1,898 sustainable materials. 279 equitable organizations. Thanks to a generous donor, every gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $30,000 through December 31st! The world needs all of us on this journey toward a Living Future: join us in building a future worth living in. Match My Gift ➡ https://lnkd.in/gFa7KfzX

"The health of our economy relies on the health of nature, but nature has been overexploited and undervalued – and is declining at an unprecedented rate. That needs to change. A true circular economy is nature-positive by design and offers a pathway to a resilient economy and better outcomes for individuals and society. By harnessing the power of nature and shifting from a resource-intensive model to one that gradually decouples economic activities from the consumption of finite resources, the circular economy can deliver benefits across sectors and help meet climate and biodiversity targets. This study focuses on Europe’s built environment and explores how a nature-positive circular economy in the sector can unlock a huge economic opportunity for the continent, increasing resilience, competitiveness and the vibrancy of its cities." https://lnkd.in/dNxNKQnC #CircularEconomy #Regenerative #Design

Building Prosperity through a Nature-Positive Circular Economy The health of our economy is intrinsically linked to the health of nature, yet our current trajectory of overexploitation and undervaluation has led to unprecedented environmental decline. This needs to change. A new report, "Building Prosperity: Unlocking the Potential of a Nature-Positive, Circular Economy for Europe," highlights the immense value of a circular economy designed to be regenerative. By shifting from a resource-intensive model to one that decouples economic activities from finite resource consumption, we can achieve resilience, competitiveness, and vibrant urban landscapes. Key Insights: - The construction sector, responsible for 36% of Europe’s emissions, can unlock over €575 billion annually by 2035 through circular strategies. - Six mature and scalable strategies can drive economic and environmental gains: revitalizing brownfield sites, converting vacant buildings, increasing urban tree canopies, expanding green-blue spaces, employing material-efficient designs, and using low-impact materials. By adopting these strategies, Europe can meet its climate and biodiversity goals, creating a resilient and prosperous future. Let’s champion this shift towards a nature-positive circular economy. Orobo's and WSolve's innovative solutions align perfectly with this report.
