DNV-ST-0377 provides specifications for #lifting appliances on board of a #ship, for #loadhandling within the #vessel #offshore or onshore. DNV-ST-0378, meanwhile, applies to equipment for load handling, also outside of the vessel / offshore unit, such as in installation operations, including #windturbine projects at open sea. #heavylifting #shackles

To: Crane operators & Riggers: Wind speed is a significant environmental hazard during lifting operations. As seen in this video, the task started smoothly, but as the load was lifted higher, the wind speed increased, causing the load to become uncontrollable due to floating. The only safe option in this case is: Drop the load at the nearest safe location and re-evaluate the conditions before proceeding. #BeSafe

Anti-Two-Block (ATB) System in general explanation on the Offshore Crane and Onshore Crane. An anti-two-block (ATB) system is a crucial safety feature or safety device on cranes. It helps to prevent a dangerous situation called two-blocking. What is the two-blocking? Two-blocking occurs when the hook block on a crane collides with the boom tip or other parts of the boom structure. This can happen due to several reasons, such as: - Raising the hoist line too far - Lowering the boom without enough slack in the hoist line - Extending the boom without lowering the hook block Why is two-blocking being very dangerous? Two-blocking can have severe consequences: - Damage, The collision can damage the crane itself, including the boom, hoist line, and hook block. - Injury, Workers in the vicinity can be injured by falling debris crane damage or a dropped load. - Equipment failure, The impact can cause the hoist line to snap or the crane to malfunction, potentially leading to a catastrophic accident. The general types of ATB systems: - Hanging Weight with Boom Tip Mounted Hydraulic Valve. - Hanging Weight with Boom Tip Mounted Cable Electrical Switch. - Hanging Weight with Boom Tip Mounted Wireless Switch. - Wire Rope Gear Limiter with Hoist Mounted Hydraulic Valve. - Wire Rope Gear Limiter with Hoist Mounted Cable Electrical Switch. - Wire Rope Gear Limiter with Hoist Mounted Wireless Switch. - Mechanical Vee Shaped with hydraulic system relief valve (Special for SEATRAX Crane Manufacturer only). Alarms and additional features: ATBs typically activate an audible and visual alarm in the cab to warn the operator. Some systems may even disable certain crane functions to prevent further movement if two-blocking is imminent. Notable; - This is a general information or explanation of the Anti-Two-Block (ATB) System on the Crane. For specific or details, may vary depending on each Crane Manufacturer, ATB Parts Manufacturer and Crane ownership company's safety information. - This is first information about ATB System, for detail Type, Model, Schematic, Process-Mechanism, etc. will be share in another post. - Additional information about Safety Features and Safety Device System on the Offshore Crane and Onshore Crane, check to post https://lnkd.in/g7n9Vtcn #OffshoreCrane #OnshoreCrane #CraneMaintenance #CraneSafetyDevice #ATBSystem

As part of the acceptance survey there are some tests that need to be carried on the cranes to ensure that they are able to operate as indicated. These tests include Full MRT of the Wire Ropes Function test Load test (Min and Max Radius with max applicable Load at radius) No overload test (if older then 6 months then this is mandated) Safe Load Indicator verification (where we suspend a known load below the hook or a water weight with a calibrated load cell and confirm if the Load indicator on the crane is within tolerance) this is done in various positions without touching the hook position If crane is to be used subsea then we further carry out subsea tests at working depth, These sub sea tests include the AHC and CT tests On one vessel yesterday we found a discrepancy during the load cell verification, we have a load test certificate provided by a reputable company on the 07 September 2024 where all check boxes was ticked (everything good) This test indicated that an overload was carried out During the load cell verification it was observed that the crane Safe Load Indicator was not accurate The heavier the load applied the more it would increase 10000kg suspended but displays at 15000kg and 15000kg applied displays at 22000kg In our permitter we do not play with safety

Another cover story for Vortex Sub-sea Solutions in an industry leading publication highlighting more new tooling to our fleet with global offshore tooling rental leader Ashtead Technology. Vortex survey arms for pipeline inspection now give the ability to articulate into more angles than any other survey arm allowing close up inspection right underneath the asset to fully survey washout and free spans whilst the break away clutch prevents costly downtime when inevitably hitting rocks with a very simple hydraulic reset to working position. 2023 continued our fleet growth introducing hydraulic work wheels to safely work diver umbilical, hydraulic hoses and ropes overboard giving the deck crew more control over operations, plus single and multiple bottle HP gas sample tools, LP gas sample tools, three different models of hydraulic electric camera winches, seabed sample grabs and more, Vortex have doubled in fleet equipment across a range of disciplines in the last two years whilst continuing our extensive R&D program to break new ground in sub sea tooling. Proudly based in New Zealand supporting Ashtead Technology's global growth as the largest, most well equipped offshore rental company, contact your local Ashtead representative for rental and purchase of Vortex tooling. #vortex, #survey, #pipeline, ##freespan

The electrically driven DP20 dispersant set is now prepared for shipment to Dutch shipyards. Utilizing Megator oil dispersant spray systems significantly reduces oil dispersant consumption. Thanks to the exceptional self-priming and dry-running capabilities of the sliding shoe pumps, the Megator oil spill dispersant spray system can be halted after the initial pass through an oil slick and easily restarted for a second pass without the concern of losing prime. When it comes to pumps, pumping systems, and pollution control solutions, we have the expertise and equipment to effectively address challenges, enhance productivity, and minimize maintenance costs. #Megator #shipyards #marine #maritime #marineindustry #oilgas #offshore #pump #ships #bilge #engineering #shipbuilding #bilgepump #wastwatertreatment #spillresponse #oilspill #oilrecovery #navalarchitecture #workboats

Conbit elevates offshore lifting to new heights by ensuring crane installation, even in the absence of a supporting crane. In the image, you'll find one of Conbit's knuckle boom cranes, neatly folded from the rear. Transported in a DNV offshore certified container, the knuckle boom crane is modular, easily disassembled for offshore facility transit. Surrounding the modular offshore crane, the truss system, manually erected, forms a temporary lifting solution. This triad of highly efficient systems enables standard lifting capacity creation at your platform without necessitating crane support for temporary crane installation. In this particular project, Conbit supplied an ATEX certified knuckle boom crane and executed installation on-site without extensive marine spread and nearby craneage. It's second nature for us to alleviate burdens for our clients. Often, clients perceive dependence on marine spread or interface management complexities. Conbit streamlines interfaces, boosts safety, and remains cost-effective. Contact Conbit to reserve your temporary offshore crane and challenge our engineers to facilitate its onboarding. Reach out to Danny Markus MBA or Jasper Horsten from Conbit Services to get started. #offshore #oilgas #heavylifting Conbit #ThePowerofPreparation
