If the UK wants to grow the hydrogen sector it should encourage high value manufacturing and associated jobs to remain in the UK. We have big plans to support and maintain the projects we build in the UK with people local to the region, as well as growing our already award winning apprenticeship scheme. There is a huge amount for the UK to win here, equally there is a lot to lose if those jobs and skills are all offshored. #madeinsheffield #ITMPower https://lnkd.in/dwi-zwNT

Clean energy jobs are booming, but finding the right talent is key to keeping the momentum going. With tools like the Clean Growth Tool and new apprenticeship programs, regions can match their energy goals with the workforce they need. UPower is here to help tackle these challenges and bring clean energy projects to life! 🌞⚡ #CleanEnergy #SolarPower #WorkforceDevelopment #GreenJobs #Sustainability
The #IRA has created over 330k jobs and counting, 75% of which won’t require a 4-year degree. In addition, clean energy jobs grew at twice the rate of overall US employment in 2023 and can result in an 8-19% income increase. And states and cities are primed for even more clean energy jobs, especially if they pursue the industries most feasible for their region. The Clean Growth Tool shows every metro area in the US which clean energy industries are most likely to thrive there, and where workforce gaps exist. https://lnkd.in/ew_Kk8YQ But who will fill those jobs? This is where workforce development, training, and apprenticeship programs come in that can train skilled workers in these growing industries, and why the US Climate Alliance, a bipartisan coalition of governors, just announced a commitment to support 1 million workers in completing Registered Apprenticeships by 2035, aiming to catalyze a diverse workforce and expand career pathways. By bringing all these elements together and aligning clean energy goals with workforce strategies, policymakers and economic development organizations can attract investment and create jobs, workers can develop stable career pathways and transform their lives, and clean energy project developers can utilize more federal incentives, allowing clean energy to be deployed faster. To learn more about why workforce programs are so important and why a cohesive strategy to align goals can maximize benefits, check out our latest article: https://lnkd.in/eBMtmZ58

A year ago, I embarked on a marvellous journey as a Mozambican Chevening Scholar at Newcastle University, in the UK. Today, I am happy to share that I have completed my MSc in Renewable Energy Enterprise and Management, graduating with Distinction. 🎓🎉 During my time at Newcastle University, I worked on projects related to the assessment and optimization of energy management in buildings and electricity generation from renewable sources (photovoltaic, wind, wave, hydro, and tidal). These projects covered technical, financial, environmental, and social appraisals, needed for informed decision-making and to ensure compliance with sustainable development targets. A unique component of my Master´s program is the combination of Engineering with Enterprise and Innovation, which inspires an entrepreneurial mindset focused on identifying opportunities, simulating business scenarios, closing gaps between resources and project delivery, and adding value to people´s lives. This component has led me to focus my enterprise research project on Decentralised Business Models for Electricity generation in developing countries, having Mozambique as a case study. With incredible guidance from my supervisor Dr David Greenwood, I managed to propose a model that brings together local electricity generation, diversified stakeholders' networks and development of small-scale businesses for productive use of energy, earning a Distinction mark of 80/100.🎉 I not only joined Newcastle University as an #MSc student but also as an Innovation Jr Consultant for the first i-Lab edition, being selected in a highly competitive application process. Thanks to my incredible professors and mentors Graham Cole and Katie Wray, I worked on a proposal of an internationalization strategy for an energy company. This journey has strengthened my understanding of energy systems, application of design thinking tools, problem-solving, decision-making, critical analysis, communication and networking. All was possible thanks to the Chevening Awards Program, and because of this scholarship, I also got to integrate a worldwide network of brilliant minds, leaders and changemakers. Finally, the support of my lecturers, colleagues, teammates, family and friends was also indispensable for me to accomplish the milestone of becoming an MSc in Renewable Energy Enterprise and Management. 🎓 I am excited about what is ahead and would love to connect with others passionate about sustainability and renewable energy. #NCL #NewcastleUniversity #MScREEM #CheveningScholarship #CheveningProgram #Classof2024 #Innovation #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #Graduation

In #Malawi only 10% of the population are conected to the grid. Development is happening though in major cities such as the capital Lilongwe - as illustrated below with a Chinese-funded highway coupled with new power cables bringing imported hydro-based power from Mozambique in near future. But the Malawi countryside and rural areas tell a different story. The poor grid infrastructure in those areas call for solar energy-based off grid solutions fast to provide for basic needs. Our #EU funded #TVET 4-year Programme aims at training 1000 young apprentices in solar panel installation, battery technology, and maintenance. This week we are reaching a milestone with MoU signings with #TEVETA, Ministry of Labor, trade unions and emploer asociación as a tri-partite approach to delivering skills development and jobs Malawian youth. Thanks to our long-standing labor market consortium partner Ulandssekretariatet - DTDA and to all local partners for the progress so far - now let’s get some apprentices skilled ! Danish Industry

"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious, and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths" - Walt Disney 🌟 One of the best sessions I’ve attended on starting a career in energy was led by Dr. Tatiana Krylova at St. Petersburg State University of Economics . Her presentation was inspiring and her work truly remarkable. She's a blessing to me! 🙌 I’ve shared her presentation with the team at CLIMATE TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS HUB [The Zoba Advisory], but I believe it deserves a broader audience, especially those looking to build a career in the energy sector. It’s a wonderful place to be! Here's a summary of what we covered: 🔹 The energy sector employs over 65 million people worldwide (International Energy Agency (IEA) ) 🔹 Global trends in the International Energy Market and the impact on society and business. 🔹 The significant role of oil and gas in energy employment (I'll delve deeper into this in a future post). 🔹 The widening gap in clean energy employment. 🔹 Career opportunities in International Energy Industries. 🔹 Overviews of Shell and Wintershall Dea companies. 🔹 Challenges in the oil & gas business environment. 🔹 Employment growth fueled by clean energy. 🔹 The stable employment horizon for the 8 million in oil supply. 🔹 Shifts in supply chains affecting the 3.9 million employed by natural gas. 🔹 Evolution of global renewable energy jobs (2012-2021). 🔹 Renewable energy jobs in selected countries (2021). 🔹 The energy sector's large share of highly skilled labor. 🔹 Skills development for renewable energy and energy-efficient jobs. 🔹 Various graduate programs (Special, Professional, Experts, Accelerated, Development). 🔹 Multiple paths leading to success in the energy sector. #EnergyCareers #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #CareerDevelopment #Inspiration #GlobalTrends #EmploymentGrowth #SkillsDevelopment 🌍🔋💼✨
