Industry leaders converged to explore the intersection of real estate and building technology. Here are some 🔑 key takeaways: 1. Harnessing Data Analytics for Predictive Insights: Algorithms are crucial in predicting economic trends and demand. Leveraging data analytics optimizes building utilization and fosters sustainability in day-to-day energy consumption. 2. Closing the Gap in Technology Integration: Despite advancements, the real estate sector still lags. With initiatives like sustainability regulations (e.g., Local Law 97), there's a pressing need for more widespread adoption of data analysis to calculate ESG metrics. 3. Maximizing Data Utilization Throughout the Building Lifecycle: 95% of data generated during construction goes to waste. Smart buildings, guided by a three-step approach—traditional design principles, digitization, and leveraging technology—respond dynamically to occupancies, optimizing performance. 4. Introducing Digital Twins for Enhanced Efficiency: Digital Twins, digital replicas of physical assets, emerge as a powerful tool to drive efficiency across campuses. IoT systems enable precise tracking of building occupancy, HVAC system optimization, and visitor management. 5. Early Stakeholder Involvement for Cost-Effective Strategies: Involving stakeholders early in the process is key to implementing cost-effective strategies. It streamlines the upgrade of digital facilities, reduces overall costs, and accelerates data collection efforts. 6. Virtual Construction for Seamless Integration: Virtual Design Construction facilitates seamless integration from facility management to reality capture. By employing digital tools, it visualizes, plans, and manages building projects before physical construction, streamlining the entire process. In conclusion, integrating AI, big data, and innovative technologies is pivotal for the real estate industry. Spring Symposium Call for Presentations Howdy y'all! The COAA Texas Chapter's Spring Symposium will take place May 14-15, 2024 at UT Health Houston's Cooley Center in Houston, TX. This year's event will focus on What's Next? Reshaping Our Industry Through 2030 and Beyond. Call for Presentations are due by 5PM Friday, March 1, 2024.  Selections will be announced and presenters contacted by March 20, 2024. We are seeking presentations around industry trends developing now and in the next 5 to 10 years. How will design and construction change with the advancement of technologies that can help us work smarter, adapt to market conditions, and overcome challenges? In particular, what solutions can Owners implement, and what trends will be palpable to the Owners’ Planning/Design/Construction/Move & Activation teams.
