@ Re-thinking the Human Factor™ one of our core beliefs is the value that different ways of thinking, different diciplines, different skills and different experiences can contribute to addressing some of the biggest challenges faced in the information and cyber security industry. What skills, knowledge and experience do you think we are missing in our industry? How do you think it would change your approach to information and cyber security? What could your organisation do today to engage with those who think differently? Recognising how diversity and a cross industry, cross disciplinary approach can benefit your organisation and reduce risk is becoming an increasingly prominent talking point and one we should embrace. We aim to bring this belief to life as we build products and services that will truly help you 're-think' the human factor and deepen your understanding of human awareness, behaviour and culture and not just survive but thrive. #CyberSecurity #Diversity #rhf #RethinkingtheHumanFactor #HumanFactorsRisk #HumanRiskManagment

“Could you switch careers into cyber-security?” I really enjoyed reading this article by Sean McManus for BBC News as I relate to it having pivoted into Cybersecurity from an academic background in Chemistry. The article explores how 39% of new employees in the sector came from a non-IT role using the example of: -a Dr within Astrophysics who was able to utilise their transferrable skills and lead security data scientist at Panasee. - A personal assistant (who has a background in English and Creative Writing) made an internal pivot within her company to become a Threat Intelligence Knowledge Manager. - A police officer who now works in Digital Forensics and Incident Response. I strongly agree with Amanda Finch FCIIS statement that ““I would argue that it's not necessarily a skills gap because the skills are out there, It's actually getting the people with the skills into cyber and then getting them to develop further.” As in my own career journey within Cybersecurity I had strong soft skills and the technical bits I learned them on the job through the support of my company. For those of you interested in Cybersecurity there’s a role for you! If you’re not sure where to begin: -The UK Cyber Security Council have showcased the top 15 disciplines within Cybersecurity that you can explore to see which roles is of best fit to you -Join community groups such as Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) UK & Ireland infosec.live Simon Linstead - Look out for apprenticeship opportunities within Cybersecurity ( The UK Civil Service Government Digital and Data have a Cybersecurity TechTrack programme) - if you’re willing to invest CAPSLOCK have a training programme - The government have #skillsforlife 12-16 week Cybersecurity bootcamps - Look INTERNALLY within your OWN organisation if there’s opportunity for secondment, placement, work shadow and job in Cybersecurity. Network and connect with those in your own company that work in Cyber. You never know where that connection could lead you.

The cyber skills gap is leaving businesses vulnerable to attacks. According to the ISACA State of Cybersecurity 2024 report, 19% of cyber professionals said that their organisation has unfilled entry-level roles. On top of this, 48% have unfilled positions that require experience or credentials. Transferable skills are valuable for a job in the sector. To plug the cyber skills gap, businesses must broaden their horizons and consider candidates from all walks of life. Just finished reading the article "You might have the skills that cyber-security wants" on the BBC website. According to ISC2, an organisation for cyber-security professionals, 39% of new employees in the industry are transitioning from non-IT roles. The article highlights case studies from people who made successful moves into cyber-security and shows that despite its technical reputation, the sector is open to talent from diverse backgrounds. Anyone can make it in cyber if they have the passion to. Having written countless articles concerning the IT skills gap over the last decade, I think this is fantastic news for the cyber market. By attracting non-IT professionals it is opening up new angles for innovation and problem-solving, which ultimately makes the industry stronger and more adaptable. It would be great to see these stats replicated in other markets, and hopefully we will. https://lnkd.in/etM8n9gE #CyberSecurity #CareerTransition #DiversityInTech #CyberJobs

Cybersecurity is an industry that urgently needs talented professionals, but the good news is that you don’t need a technical background to make a real impact! 🌐 I’m incredibly passionate about addressing the cybersecurity skills gap. It’s not just about finding more people; it’s about highlighting the diverse, transferable skills that so many professionals already have. Take Dr. Leila Powell, who transitioned from astrophysics to cybersecurity, and Calum Baird, who applied his skills from policing to digital forensics. Their stories show that anyone with an analytical mindset, strong communication skills, or problem-solving abilities can thrive in this industry. 💡 This European Cybersecurity Awareness Month, let’s focus on opportunities - not gaps. Whether you come from a tech, science, law enforcement, or even a humanities background, there is a place for you in cybersecurity. We need diverse talent to tackle the evolving challenges we face. If you’re curious about switching careers, now is the time to explore the possibilities. Together, we can strengthen the cybersecurity landscape and make a difference in people’s lives every day. #CyberSecurityAwareness #SkillsGap #CyberSecurity #CyberTalent #DiversityInTech #EuropeanCyberSecurityMonth

60 Percent Of Small Companies Close Within 6 Months Of Being Hacked Small companies are easily seduced into unknowingly hiring foreign agents and hackers using the allure of higher profits through low wages. However, most hacks are orchestrated from inside the companies. Most companies small and large do not consider hiring a real data modeler to encrypt their data INSIDE the database to defend it against employees who should be assigned different levels of access. Most companies that have databases have never heard of data modelers nor do they understand what data modeling is. If you are wondering, it’s NOT modeling data. Also, you cannot hire a real data modeler for less than one million dollars and get real secure work done. Most real data modeling jobs start at $2,500,000. Additionally most company founders don’t understand that any claims to cybersecurity without data modeling is a scam and simply fake security. https://lnkd.in/gNGgTNjj
