Not Only in Code Lives a Developer: "Refactoring UI" by Adam Wathan and Steve Schoger. At Seasoned, our team had the opportunity to explore the book Refactoring UI with Daniel Larusso and Felipe Freitag Vargas. Our goal was to become more critical and mindful when creating user interfaces. One of the key lessons was understanding that we don't need to deliver a fully polished UI in the first commit when creating from scratch—it's okay to start simple and iterate. The book also offers valuable tips on the use of color, depth, contrast, typography, and more. This experience took us away from the code for a bit, encouraging us to focus more on design—not just reproducing what was asked, but also thinking about possible improvements. If you're looking to enhance your design skills as a developer, this book is a must-read! #RefactoringUI #design #development #UI #learning #Seasoned

"A well-crafted design system caters to the content that lives inside it, and well-crafted content is aware of how it’s presented in the context of a UI. The interface patterns we establish must accurately reflect the nature of the text, images, and other content that live inside them. Similarly, our content should be aware of the manner in which it will be presented. The close relationship between content and design requires us to consider both as we construct our UIs. Atomic design gives us a language for discussing the structure of our UI patterns and also the content that goes inside those patterns. While there is a clean separation between the content structure skeleton (templates) and the final content (pages), atomic design recognizes the two very much influence each other." -Brad Frost 👇🏻Full Article in the comments👇🏻

This is something important to take note of about texts. It's majorly for UI designs but also applicable to graphic designs. To ease the cognitive load of reading multi-line text, the text shouldn't be starting from different points else it shouldn't have too many lines. This is why having the text left-aligned or right-aligned (depending on the language) is better than having it center-aligned. #design #dailydesigndose #text

Being a developer with minimal design skills I use a variety of resources for guidance -> -Refractoring UI handbook by the creators of TailwindCSS. This great document has tons of content ranging from starting from scratch, layout and spacing, color palettes, and even a components gallery! -Awwwards, Behance, and Dribbble. These sites have great landing pages that I use to gather inspo. I often pull a bit of each design that I like and put it together for what I'm building. -Lately I've been messing with v0 by Vercel, an AI product that turns text prompts into generative UI! A fine start to get your idea turned into reality! I recommend developers with minimal design skills to invest in the Refractoring UI handbook along with Design+Code tutorials. https://lnkd.in/ed5mG_7Q

Day 19, A leaderboard UI. I enjoyed making this so much. Here's a tip, if you are looking to make your design process faster and scalable, one thing I recommend is thinking in components and variations. The key word here is "thinking". Components are reusables building blocks of a "whole". In this case they are things like buttons, input fields, pages, full websites and even typography. The purpose of a components is to make the "whole" scalable and easy to work with. - Components make your work faster - With components its very easy to fix issues Let me know what you think about the design.

Names are incredibly powerful. Learning the names of things is how we begin to communicate as humans. Names empower objects with purpose and meaning. It is no different in UI. Layouts will often require many divs and containers. When designing a layout, I’ve found it helpful to slow down and think about why I’m creating a new frame in the first place. Giving a UI element a name helps with my own understanding of what its purpose is. Not only that, but a well-named and organized layer list acts as its own documentation that both designers and developers will appreciate. #figma #uidesign #designtips
