SCS manufactures three different ESD Event Detection Meters and Monitors that allow you to identify ESD incidents throughout your manufacturing process. There are two handheld meter models and a continuous monitoring device. All of which are designed to detect and count ESD events that can damage sensitive components and cause tool lockups, erratic behavior and parametric errors. Once you can detect ESD Events, you can carry out diagnostics to determine what is causing them, and then you can put a solution in place.

AEC-Q100 is a popular qual spec for Automotive ICs. It consists of a suite of tests, but only a subset (such as the "Accelerated Environment Stress Tests" in Test Group A) are directly related to packaging and assembly. Rev J of the spec was released in August 2023 and here are changes (marked green in the graphic) in Test Group A: 1) Addition of Acoustic Microscopy (AM) after Pre-conditioning (PC) to check for delamination: Die attach delamination greater than 50% for active die attach (electrically or thermally active) must be reported. Wire bonding surface delamination must be reported. 2) Addition of Acoustic Microscopy after Temp Cycling (TC) to check for delamination in die attach (if electrically or thermally active) or wire bonding surface. 3) Introduction of "Temperature Humidity (TH)" as an alternate test to Autoclave (AC/Pressure Cooker Test) or Unbiased Highly Accelerated Stress Test (uHAST). This test provides an alternate to packages sensitive to high temperatures and pressure (e.g., BGA). The test requires PC followed by TH (85C/85%RH) for 1000 hours. Link to the AEC-Q100 Rev.
