NGAA CEO Bronwen Clark recently joined The Hon. Peter Dutton MP, Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Sukkar MP, Shadow Minister for Housing, and Mitchell Shire Council CEO Brett Luxford to discuss a transformative infrastructure project that, if funded, could enable over 28,000 new homes. The Coalition’s proposed $5 billion Housing Infrastructure Programme is designed to drive housing growth by delivering essential infrastructure. This funding would be a significant step forward for growth areas, which play an essential role in addressing Australia’s housing crisis. Outer-metropolitan growth areas too often fall between the cracks of CBD and rural funding, resulting in gaps in essential services like schools, hospitals, transport, and green spaces. This program could be a much-needed boost for these communities, supporting the infrastructure they need to thrive.

Public land is a crucial tactic to ensuring increased non-market housing that is built for, and can stay truly affordable overtime. These lands should be prioritized for non-profits and First Nations to ensure real affordability is acheived.
The cost of land is one of the biggest barriers in building affordable housing. We applaud the recent mandate requiring the use of public land for housing development by the Government of British Columbia and the Government of Canada. This significant move ensures that public land remains public, protecting and promoting affordable housing. By prioritizing the use of these lands for affordable housing projects, both governments are taking a critical step towards addressing the housing crisis and supporting communities in need. 🏘👏 💡 Read more about this impactful policy shift and its implications in this insightful article: https://lnkd.in/gHYuSRBi Together, we can make a difference and create a future where everyone has access to affordable and secure housing. #AffordableHousing #PublicLand #HousingDevelopment #BritishColumbia #FederalGovernment #HousingPolicy #CommunitySupport

Prince Edward Island launched over $25 million in assistance programs Prince Edward Island launched over $25 million in assistance programs to bolster infrastructure for 700 new residential lots. The Municipal Infrastructure Fund will provide grants to developers in rural areas, supporting the extension of existing facilities and thus making more land available for housing. Additionally, developers can receive financial support from the Subdivision Development Financing Program, offering low-rate financing for developing vacant land. The Building Acceleration Grant will assist with road infrastructure for approved lots, covering up to 50% of the total cost. These initiatives aim to provide diverse housing options, reduce costs, and encourage housing developments, thereby creating more attainable housing to meet the needs of Canadians. #PEI, #housing, #princeedwardisland

Government unlocks brownfield sites for new homes 💼🏘️ The government is to give £68 million to a total of 54 councils to turn neglected land into new homes. It will transform local communities and help families onto the property ladder. The funding will mean councils can clear empty buildings, former car parks and industrial land to make way for the homes. This category of land is expensive to prepare for housebuilding, meaning sites are sat empty and an eyesore for local communities. With the funding, delivered through the Brownfield Land Release Fund, councils will be able to cover the cost of decontamination, clearing disused buildings or improving infrastructure such as internet, water and power. As a result, the government estimates that land will be released to enable 5,200 homes to be built across the country.
