The application period for the #GovernmentofAlberta 2025/26 #DroughtandFloodProtectionProgram closes on November 29. A multi-year grant program to help municipalities and Indigenous communities improve their long-term resilience to drought and floods events, the DFPP will help fund the design and construction of projects that protect critical infrastructure from flooding and drought and help to ensure public safety is protected. Municipalities, improvement districts, special areas, Métis settlements and First Nations are all eligible to apply for up to $10 million per project. That said, there is no minimum funding requirement for applications. All approved projects will be cost-shared, with the Government of Alberta covering up to 70% of total eligible costs and the grant recipient(s) covering the remaining 30%. Interested? Celebrate Canada Program (Canadian Heritage) This federal program provides funding for activities that celebrate Canada Day, National Indigenous Peoples Day, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, and Canadian Multiculturalism Day. The goal is to encourage local celebrations that promote pride and recognition of Canadian heritage. Eligibility: Municipalities, Indigenous communities, and local organizations, such as cultural groups and community associations, are eligible to apply. Funding Amount: Up to 100% of eligible project expenses, with grants typically covering up to $50,000. Application Timeline: Closes on November 21, 2024 How to Apply: Applications can be submitted through the Canadian Heritage website.

A huge thank you to the #AJHL #DraytonValleyThunder for their amazing support of Pembina Crisis Connection Society's #PurpleLights crowdfunding campaign. The Thunder will be using #Howies purple grip tape on their sticks each home game -- Nov 15, 16, 22 and 29th -- in hopes of encouraging their fans to join and support the campaign, which calls on the community to stand together against #domesticviolence, intimate-partner violence (IPV), and gender-based violence (GBV). The month-long campaign not only aims to raise awareness but also to generate critical funds for education, prevention programs, and direct support services for those affected by violence. Donations collected through the campaign will go toward resources such as safety planning packages, community outreach, and partnerships with local shelters and crisis services.
