The day before yesterday, I finished the first of three parts on what is arguably going to be the most important topic of my upcoming book, "Software Engineering done Right: The practice of writing useful and usable products." I finished the second part yesterday and had this view after closing the laptop and getting ready for dinner at what has become my favorite restaurant in Akbuk, Turkey. Today, I will finish the chapter as I am committed to writing the third part of the text. Constraints are....well....restrictive. They confine us to a set of rules that we must follow. That doesn't mean that we have to be limited in our creativity though. Take Shakespeare for example. He wrote 154 sonnets that had to follow a strict rhyming pattern. With the rhyming pattern to follow he wrote some of the most famous poetry in the world. Like Shakespeare and the rules of poetry; I think the rules of Scrum opens the door to more creativity and innovation. https://lnkd.in/g7d_kvbH

Most people I meet are familiar with Janet Gregory's and my first book, _Agile Testing: A Practical Guide for Testers and Agile Teams_. Our second book, _More Agile Testing: Learning Journeys for the Whole Team_, has not had as many readers. I think the title made people think it was a 2nd edition of the first one. Sigh. It covers lots of areas of the vast world of testing that we couldn't get to in the first book. The size of both books scares some folks off! So we wrote _Agile Testing Condensed: A Brief Introduction_. It's a quick read and covers a lot of material from the first two books at a high level - with links to dig into more. And, we added new things we'd learned as well. I'll link to that post in the comments. The ebook is available in many languages, and the paperback copy is available on Amazon. We use the term #HolisticTesting now, which captures the ideas better than #AgileTesting, but the principles, practices and techniques all still apply in our modern software world!
