FCC Hammers Down on Lead Gen Outreach In my article, I write about the new stringent updates the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has recently enacted to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). This fundamentally alters the landscape for businesses that engage in lead generation (which, to my knowledge, is almost all B2C and most B2B). These changes are not merely regulatory updates for marketers to ignore—they're crucial to understand for all businesses utilizing digital and cold outreach strategies. Failing to comply could result in severe financial penalties and irreparable damage to your brand's reputation. My suggestion is two-fold: 1. Familiarize yourself with these new regulations as well as keep up-to-date with developing requirements in the future, and 2. If you use in-house marketing, get them up to compliance. If you outsource, ensure your consultants are aware, remaining compliant, and use best practices. This will be an ongoing and most likely evolving regulation, especially as new media platforms and ways of communication become available.
