So I'm going to jump on this "Haffi go down" (translation: "must get rid of") phrase since Alexia James brought it up on my feed. Here are some things that "Haffi go down" starting this year: 1. Not having your own website (custom domain name and the works) for your business or personal brand 2. Wanting contractors to start on project work without payment (you don't ask a fast food restaurant to give you the food before you pay, don't do it here) 3. Micromanaging 4. Not paying a LIVABLE wage to salaried workers
If you’re on in the Jamaican social space you may have seen the phrase “Haffi go down” on social media recently made popular by Netania Mundell. Here’s my list of things that “Haffi go down” [ a.k.a must get rid of]: 1. Requesting ANYthing today for Tomorrow 2. Assuming it takes 2.0 seconds to create a graphic 3. Not saying Good Morning before asking for something 4. Rushing for Work to Get Done but Not Rushing to Make Payments What’s on your “Haffi go down” list?

A little multiple-choice question for Wednesday night: If someone blocks you on here, do you: a. Take it on the chin and get on with your day? b. Spend a couple of minutes thinking about which of your values might not align with theirs, and why you hold those values? c. Wonder if you might be spending too much time on social media? d. Stalk the person online, find out their private e-mail address and write to them to ask to be allowed to see their posts again? To the person who decided after I blocked them last week that option d. was the correct answer: option d. is not, in fact, the correct answer.

Lockdown throwback! Four years ago today we went into our second covid lockdown. Throughout the whole of the first lockdown I did a daily 8pm live on Facebook. It was a chance to being people together and help us to find the good in each day when the world was so uncertain. This video was my first day back to lockdown live. It's popped up on my Facebook memories and has reminded me how important stating connected is. With life moving at a much slower pace, I found it easier to balance what I needed to do to pay my bills and what I needed to do to maintain my health. As life has got busier and busier, that balance is much harder to find. But here is a reminder to slow down and take a moment to think about the good that is happening. Especially when it feels hard. I'm contemplating going back to doing my one good thing lives, but my professional Facebook profile requires 100 followers. Which I do not have! But watch this space... it might happen 🤞 ‐---------------------------------------- If you don't want to watch the whole thing, these are my highlights: 3:20 - my excitement over a title 6:05 - Christmas excitement followed by a clatter 7:20 - realising I am the lovely friend 9:15 - the joys of not interacting with other humans 11:45 - Max the cat #InfiniteAbility

Should Law Enforcement be jumping in on social media trends? YES! As a government agency you should be including "trends" in your social media strategy. By jumping in on trends, not only do you give your department a chance to have some fun and show personality, you also give your department the best chance to be seen by an audience that doesn’t already follow you. We decided to jump in on the “We’re” trend a few weeks back (https://lnkd.in/gq7yZrUh ). This 22-second video got 200k+ views and reached over 100K accounts on Instagram alone. The best part? The majority of accounts we reached were not already following us (74K non-followers vs 41K followers). But, there is nothing worse than jumping in on a trend and having it completely flop on you. If you are thinking of jumping in on a social trend I encourage you to ask yourself a few questions: 1. Is the trend still trending/ can I get it posted in time? If you’re late to the game regarding social media trends, it may be best just to let that one go. You will never be able to resurrect a trend past its prime. 2. Is the trend appropriate for my organization? This is either in general or for your audience. If your audience won’t understand, won’t care, or worse—won’t think it’s appropriate, you should pass on posting about the trending topic. 3. Can we add something original? If you don’t have a fresh angle to bring to the table, then the social media trend may not be beneficial for you to participate in. Remember, millions of people are posting about it online, so the goal is to curate something that stands out. Social media is supposed to be fun, so have a little fun. I hope this helps give you the extra little push to add trends into your strategy if you have not done so already.
Orange County Sheriff's Department on Instagram: "What can we say, we are deputies! 👮♂️🚔 Here’s why we do these things: 1. Drink energy/ highly caffeinated drinks: We work 24/7, while you are sleeping, we are working. We need the extra caffeine boost. 2. Use military time: This helps us avoid confusion between daytime and nighttime hours, especially when writing reports. 3. Back our units into
