Good first steps can be allowing the young ones to have accounts on the social media, but only their parents and older family members would be the ones to suggest posts to them to have a look on the topics and interfere with the material, so there would be some responsible person who can be questioned, if they take any wrong step.

More government regulation. More government intrusion. More control. Is this a good idea conceptually? Possibly. Should kids younger than 18 be unburdened by social media? Definitely. Is it the government’s job to police this? Most definitely not.

This is a very good measure that also needs to be adopted in my country.

Australia is moving to ban social media use entirely by anyone under 16. Given the incentives and abilities of the social media companies, a complete ban could make more sense than any sort of restrictions. Is it time for the US to seriously consider banning social media for minors? If you haven't seen the news in Australia, they recently banned social media for anyone under the age of 16. Now being part of the social media industry, I've been historically against any type of government ban in the US. But I've definitely come around on this topic, and think that we do in fact need to do something in this country to protect young people from the harmful effects of social. I've seen interesting takes on various options like limiting what minor accounts can access, setting curfews to ensure kids aren't doom scrolling at night, making it more of a viewing experience without being able to comment. I'm not sure what the answer is going to be here, but I don't envision the US staying the course. There is so much good that can come from social media, but there is also a lot of bad, and similar to many other things in this country we need to protect the youth from the bad as best we can. I don't know if it will be a complete ban, but it needs to be something. #socialmedia #influencermarketing #creatoreconomy

FLORIDA BANS SOCIAL MEDIA FOR MINORS Governor DeSantis just signed a new bill banning children under 14 from using social media. Children aged 15 and 16 will need parental consent. As stated in bill HB-3, a social media platform is "an online forum, application or website that satisfies the following criteria - allows users to upload content - 10% or more of the DAUs spend longer than 2 hours on the platform. - uses algorithms or data to select content - infinite scrolling or content loading system to that effect. - uses push notifications to inform users about activity - personal interactive metrics (likes, shares etc.) - auto loading videos - live streaming" Might be the turkey voting for Thanksgiving but as a Dad of two young girls, I'm broadly supportive of any measure that limits social media. A shocking statistic I read this weekend - the suicide rate for teenage girls has increased 82% compared to 2006 -2010. Does this bill go too far? Will it be effective? Which state will follow next?
