Enjoyed watching the CPO of Gitlab, David DeSanto, talk on Lenny's Podcast. With a valuation around $10bn they're perhaps the largest fully remote tech company out there. And they're kicking ass. His advice to remote-first companies (you can also click on the video to hear his exact words): Rule 1) Be transparent Rule 2) Be focused on outcomes, not time Rule 3) Overcommunication Couldn't agree more with his list. And i'd argue that the system i've been using the last few years takes these things to their absolute extreme... A: Literally everything anyone does that takes >20 min is a task and all work is reflected as an update to a task (maps to Rules 1&3 above). B: Have used mainly contractors (from upwork) who are paid based on outcomes and not time. And so naturally i don't care how they spend their time.(maps to Rule 2 above) Fully remote not only works... it kicks ass.

Okay, so we've been recording a few episodes, but only just got around to setting up our socials etc. We'll be posting a few of the episodes we recorded over the past year (😬) soon, but we finally wrapped up this one which we'll use to kick things off! In it, Lionello Lunesu (one of our co-hosts) breaks down the Defang Software Labs stack. In it you'll learn why it's actually really hard to get from a Dockerfile or compose.yaml file to an actual running project in AWS and what's the secret sauce that Defang sprinkles on those files to get everything running securely, reliably, and with scalability in mind in your very own AWS account. https://lnkd.in/e4KrMfJS
