Andela and CNCF Partner to Train 30,000 African Developers in Cloud-Native Skills Andela, an IT talent marketplace, has partnered with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and Linux Foundation Education to train 20,000 to 30,000 African developers in cloud-native basics. The program aims to equip participants with certifications like Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD). With one of the fastest-growing populations of developers, these credentials will prepare African developers for global opportunities in cloud-native development. ultimately, enhancing job opportunities for African workers. The training, which begins next year, will run for two to three years and will be offered at no cost to participants. Participants will be selected from Andela’s talent marketplace, which connects over 150,000 technology professionals globally, with a large share from 49 African countries including Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana. The initiative aims to address the growing demand for cloud-native skills, with certification often being a barrier due to cost. It's been 2 weeks already since I joined BridgeTalentAfrica Cyber Clinic and the cybersecurity work has been both challenging and rewarding so far.🤗🤗🥰🥰 In week 1, my team and I were tasked with some critical security assessments for the organizations we were paired with: ❄ Identifying potential attack vectors and ways the organizations could be breached ❄Determining how often they patch their systems ❄Verifying the security controls and access levels currently in place This helped us get a comprehensive view of the organizations' security posture and identify areas that need to be addressed. Then in week 2, we dove deeper, using OSINT (open-source intelligence) techniques like: ❄Researching key people in the organizations ❄Using "whois" lookups to gather information about the organizations themselves ❄Searching for any publicly available emails, contacts or other details we could uncover. All these which was done , documented and submitted as a vulnerability assessment report to the company management team. After having a deep understanding of the Cyber Kill Chain provided to us by our mentor Mr. Deogratius Okello, which is a framework that describes the typical stages an attacker goes through when attempting to breach an organization's defenses , it has made our journey an interesting one to navigate. It's been a fascinating journey to the world of cybersecurity tools such as #Phonebook.cz, #TheHarvester, #Recon-ng, #Spiderfoot ,#Eyewithness as well as concepts such as the #MITREATTaCK framework, #GoogleDorking, #OSINTFramework and more. I'm really enjoying the chance to apply these in a practical setting. There's still a lot to learn, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of this important work. The RUPHA - Rural & Urban Private Hospitals Association of Kenya has received a significant boost from Amazon Web Services (AWS) with Sh3.7 million ($28,700) in promotional credits. This support, provided through the AWS Health Equity Initiative, aims to advance healthcare accessibility by enhancing RuphaSoft, the unified hospital management information system (HMIS). The Rural and Urban Private Hospitals Association (Rupha) has received a significant boost from Amazon Web Services (AWS) with Sh3.7 million ($28,700) in promotional credits. This support, provided through the AWS Health Equity Initiative, aims to advance healthcare accessibility by enhancing RuphaSoft, the unified hospital management information system (HMIS). RuphaSoft will expand its cloud infrastructure to ensure a secure and scalable platform for innovative healthcare solutions tailored to the unique needs of medically underserved communities. The HMIS modules cover essential services such as outpatient care, inpatient care, laboratory services, pharmaceutical services, and accounting. Brian Lishenga, chairman of Rupha, announced that the platform will be provided free of charge to the association's 400 members. This initiative ensures even the remotest private health facilities in Kenya can contribute to the Kenya Health Information Exchange, a vital component of the Kenya Digital Superhighway project.
