After looking at hundreds of job applications today, I can now tell you how to catch out a ChatGPT cover letter. 1. Always addressed to 'The Hiring Manager' 2. Almost always signs off 'Warm regards' 3. A paragraph near the end that starts with 'I am particularly drawn to...' Which has got me thinking about how to value a candidate who uses chatGPT in this way, maybe it shows that they're not really serious about the role, but it also shows that they know how to use tech to be more efficient, which is exactly the skill you need in most modern jobs. #Hiring #DigitalMarketing #Job #SEO

ChatGPT is here to stay in our job applications. 🤖 At The Resume Writers, we receive documents from individuals all over the country and while there are many ways to write both a good and a bad application; a ChatGPT'd one is immediately distinguishable. ChatGPT uses more commas than would be normal, has specific words it prefers to start sentences off, and is the reigning king of superlative adjectives. The problem is that most people don't know what we are talking about with the above. Which is fine-- if you're not writing for a living, you wouldn't need to know all that. But herein lies the problem-- if you can't identify the ChatGPTisms, you can't fix them. Hiring managers are presently awash with largely gramatically correct, if not quite waxy, generic applications. The only thing that ChatGPT has improved for cover letters is the grammatical elements. For CVs, ChatGPT can provide some useful inspiration and direction. But it doesn't work with hierarchy of content very well, it identifies things that are not achievements as such, and the really, really, big problem is people using ChatGPT for their applications, feeling quite confident now that it is written better than their existing application, and going no further. Remember-- if everyone is doing the same thing, it no longer has value. https://lnkd.in/g2_Gy-b6

I've reviewed over 100 resumes this year alone. Here are some things that are immediate no's: + Spelling my name wrong + Not reading the job description and writing about irrelevant things + Telling me how your previous company sucks in the cover letter + Using ChatGPT to write why you are interested in our organization (yes I can tell by the emojis and literally 100 other things because I use ChatGPT too) + Applying to every single job listing we have open Here are my immediate "Heck yes!": + Not spelling my name wrong + Talking about how passionate you are in your line of work + Including relevant examples of your portfolio because you've actually looked at Quimby's website and our ethos + Answering all the questions in the short Clickup Application + Not including links to things that don't work + Language conveying you are a team player and want to support others What are your make or breaks as a founder for hiring? #marketing #hiring
