During my onboarding at Sprout Social, Inc., I had the opportunity to meet the CEO (Justyn Howard), the President (Ryan Barretto), and the CMO (Scott Morris)—just to name a few. I decided to be the curious (annoying? 😅) one, picking their brains and asking as many questions as possible whenever I had the chance. I'm grateful for the opportunity to chat with these absolute masterminds behind one of the most promising SaaS companies worldwide. ✌️ The questions were mostly about: 👉 Leadership (wartime vs peacetime CEO) 👉 Tips on staying aligned with a company-wide strategy when working on different products 👉 Marketing objectives for 2024 and how to benchmark them 👉 Tagger by Sprout Social (the product that I work on) I'd love to share the answers to my questions with you, but I guess they're too confidential, especially for a publicly listed company. 😉 Great insights though, especially the high-level ones. Throughout my life, I’ve designed many things: graphics, tangible products, and digital interfaces. But it wasn’t until I joined Mindworks Lab that I learned to design ✨meaningful & impactful conversations✨ that can drive systemic change. Here’s what happened:  ✅ Collaborating with Aku Masuk ITB (AMI), we co-hosted digital and real-world conversations with hundreds of high schoolers from all across Indonesia ✅ Using a smart-matching algorithm, we paired two “strangers” to engage in guided conversations designed with the SDGs 2030 framework in mind  ✅ The goal was to help them reflect on their personal power, agency, and broader purpose in the face of local and global challenges… ✅ ...which also led them to think (and re-think) about their choice of jurusan perkuliahan and careers :) The result? In just one hour, we witnessed a shift in mindset and perspective among these young participants. Imagine the social change we could inspire by replicating this model across various issues and communities! Although I’ve moved on from Mindworks Lab, I highly recommend anyone who’s interested in making impact and driving systemic change to collaborate with the Mindworks team. Often, I'm asked: Why did you transition from working in the entertainment industry to social media? People often don’t grasp the critical need for social media in today’s world. That’s precisely why I joined Things2Do as a Content Executive. Social media is the next big thing, and I could see its potential to transform how we connect, engage, and grow. Shifting from the entertainment  industry, where the spotlight is on talent and performance, to the dynamic and fast-paced world of social media was daunting. I was stepping into uncharted territory, filled with uncertainty and excitement. But working with Things2do taught me the importance of authenticity and engagement. It wasn't just about pushing content out but about creating meaningful interactions. I learned to listen to the audience, understand their needs, and tailor our messaging to build a genuine connection. A significant highlight of my journey also include starting a Things2binge, a community platform made for cinephiles. The community started from a humble proposal to my seniors to a actually building it into a reality which has been immensely rewarding for me personally. It’s time … After 3 years enabling and supporting TikTok employees to be the best version of themselves, I am starting a NEW CHAPTER in my life. Building the TikTok Enablement strategy/area in the region and supporting the creation of the global agenda makes me feel that 3 years were in fact 15 :) WHAT A RIDE! I feel GRATEFUL for being part of a company that moved from a unicorn to a global business in a such short period of time, disrupting the market while bringing joy to people - that’s huge! Some of the projects and moments that will always be in my HEART: The new Onboarding for new joiners (+ new Sales Academies and Leadership Events); Coaching and Mentoring platforms and experiences… chats in the canteen about “new ways of working and thinking”, sessions covering important topics like Resilience, Imposter Syndrome, Trust …. and my last (and beloved project!) Mum’s Circle 💝 As I love making pauses to REFLECT between cycles, here are some LESSONS and INSIGHTS the Rocketship experience brought to me: 1. Always day 1 mindset is key! It brings us energy to keep moving. 2. Seeking for continuous improvement is more important than being perfect 3. Showing vulnerabilities and admitting mistakes make us bigger. 4. Feedback is a gift and changes life. Provide it wisely (and listen to it with humility!) 5. Do you have an idea? Try it out. Do you love an idea? Fight to implement it 6. Set clear goals, build an agenda and make pauses to reflect and celebrate. Always! 7. Good leaders set a clear vision. Great leaders inspire you to accomplish a vision and help you feel fulfilled 8. People make business. Business shape people. Putting People at the core is key! 9. Staying true to yourself, to your purpose and to your believes … this really makes the difference. 10. More important than being successful is feeling significant. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone (from TikTok and 3rd parties) who partnered with me in this growth journey. Difficult to name all, so excuse the lack of “tags” in this post! 🌷🌷😊 My heart is full of gratitude for being part of a GREAT TEAM, for meeting wonderful people and making friendship that will last after this chapter. March 2016: Stephan kicks off the Professional Services team at Sprout Social, Inc. A team of one for awhile, until in Spring of 2018 when we spiked to 6 strong and started delivering a suite of custom services. Fast-forward to Fall of 2021, we added dedicated headcount in EMEA, and I moved into a leadership role. Always hovering around 6-7 people globally. Then things took off. Below, you're looking at a global team of 30 consultants across three regions and multiple product disciplines, and 6 leaders. All that growth happened in about 30 months. And despite the overall shorter tenure of this group, the value they deliver each and every day to both our customers and internal partners in Sales & Success is truly astounding. I have receipts, proof, timelines, and screenshots that would blow your mind. When I was a team lead interviewing for my leadership position, I was asked to share my vision for professional services. What I said was that, after doing the work for so long, I wanted to impart what I'd learned onto others and build a legacy we could all be proud of. A team--no, a DEPARTMENT--this big across the globe was not something I'd ever envisioned in that statement. I didn't know how to think that big yet, but Sarah Schmall did, and she has executed on her vision flawlessly these past two years. You all see a group photo of 30+ people who came together in our amazing Seattle office to connect, learn from each other, and get a ton of much-needed collaborative work done on key initiatives pertaining to services delivery at Sprout. I see something I helped build from Day 1, and it's better than I could have ever imagined. This group gets more inspiring every day.
