🎉 Happy 1-year anniversary at Dagger, Sophia Sanders! 🎉 It’s been incredible watching you grow over the past year, and I’m so excited to see all your hard work come together at our upcoming team retreat! 💪❤️ Transitioning from a non-technical company to a technical start-up is no small feat, especially in the B2B tech world. But Sophia has embraced every challenge like a pro and gracefully took all feedback. As her manager, this milestone also got me reflecting on what it takes to thrive in Ops within a start-up. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart! I hope these tips will help anyone else in Ops who’s thinking about diving into start-ups: 1️⃣ Be ready to do it all—and do it with a smile. In a physical office, I’d say, “take out the trash,” but in a remote world, this could be anything from crunching numbers to taking a small but time-consuming task off someone’s plate. 2️⃣ Stay ahead of the game—be everywhere, all the time. Anticipating your team’s needs before they ask is a superpower. 3️⃣ Embrace the energy—you set the tone for the whole team. Being the Ops cheerleader is part of the role, and your enthusiasm will be contagious. 4️⃣ Celebrate technical wins—you don’t have to be technical yourself, but you should be excited about the team’s technical milestones. If you’re not engaged, everyone will notice. I’m not going to sugarcoat it—Ops can be a thankless job sometimes. If you’re doing it well, much of what you do may go unnoticed because you’ve built such a seamless system. But that’s what makes it so impactful. 🙌

After wrapping up my time at Belong (a division of Telstra ) today, I found myself feeling a bit emotional as I said goodbye to the incredibly talented family I've had the privilege of working with for the past two years. Belong has been home to a wealth of amazing talent from whom I've gleaned invaluable knowledge. Fortunately, I received an offer for Vanguard client today and will be joining their team in a few weeks. Wanting to bring my best to this new chapter, I took some time to reflect on the past two years and crafted an action plan. Among the myriad lessons learned and areas of focus for my next endeavor: 1) Maintain a continuous dedication to learning new trends and technologies. 2) Embrace and evolve with AI, as advised by Sathish Babu Boopathy . 3) Always have at least one improvement task or self-project to pursue. 4) Define and pursue a clear career path (e.g., Solution Designer). 5) Cultivate my habit of asking questions (Be stupid to ask questions). 6) Prioritize communication with stakeholders. 7) Sustain energy and positivity. 8) Seek help when needed. Now, to turn the question to you: What's one thing you strive to bring to work every day?

I had always lived within the familiar boundaries of home, cocooned in the comfort of family and known surroundings. But life threw a curveball when I found myself in a new city, Sreemangal, alone and far from everything I had known. It was a challenge I hadn’t anticipated, one that pushed me out of my well-trodden path. I arrived in Sreemangal as a Cluster Manager for Grameenphone, stepping into a role that demanded more than just technical skills—it required adaptation, resilience, and a fresh perspective. At first, the isolation was overwhelming. Every street, every face was foreign, and I felt like an outsider in a strange land. However, as I began to navigate this new environment, I started seeing the world through a different lens. The challenges I faced forced me to confront my own limits and capabilities. Managing a team in a new city made me rethink my leadership style and communication strategies. I had to learn to connect with people on a deeper level, understand their unique perspectives, and adapt my approach to fit their needs. This immersion into a different culture and way of life helped me grow in ways I hadn’t anticipated. Professionally, I became more adaptable and innovative, learning to handle uncertainty with confidence. Personally, I discovered a resilience I didn’t know I possessed. The solitude that once seemed daunting became a space for introspection and self-discovery. Looking back, I see how this leap into the unknown was precisely what I needed. It was the catalyst for a transformation that defined my year. The discomfort and challenges I faced in Sreemangal were essential to uncovering a new version of myself—one that was more confident, adaptable, and open to the myriad possibilities life had to offer. Embracing this journey out of my comfort zone became the theme of my 2024, and it was the kickstart I needed to become the person I was always meant to be. 🌸🌸
