To lead, one must be willing to follow. True leadership is not about authority or power. It's about showing up in a way that inspires trust and credibility so that people choose to follow you. When Gandhi marched, people didn’t follow him because they had to. In fact, they risked their jobs, safety, and lives by walking alongside him. Yet they did. Why? Leaders often share compelling visions, but clarity, conviction, and integrity set them apart. The mechanism that translates life experiences into clarity is introspection. Leaders introspect deeply on two questions: What’s important? What’s not? When you’re clear on your values, you make sharp decisions where others falter. Clarity leads to conviction, conviction builds integrity under pressure, and integrity delivers results that inspire trust. Leadership starts within. Strip away titles, money, or networks, and what remains is your cause and conviction.
