🌍✨ Agryco in Oman: Exploring Innovation, Agriculture and synergies ✨🌍 I had the privilege of meeting with members of the Oman Investment Authority and the Future Fund Oman. Our conversations spanned a wide range of critical topics, including agriculture, innovation, food security, building start-up ecosystems like La Ferme Digitale, investments and growing the private sector—key pillars for creating a sustainable and resilient future. In addition to these discussions, I spent one day exploring and learning about Oman’s agriculture while meeting farmers. From the cultivation of organic corn at 2,500 meters altitude, irrigated by ancestral Falaj systems, to the iconic date palm groves, it was fascinating to witness the diversity, resilience, and fragility of Oman’s farming practices. I also discovered the country’s major agricultural productions, including limes, bananas, mangoes, and tomatoes, which play a vital role in the local economy and food system. It was inspiring to exchange ideas on how technology and collaboration can address some of the most pressing challenges in agriculture, food security, and farmers' prosperity. At Agryco (ex agriconomie), we are proud to contribute to shaping the agriculture of tomorrow, and Oman’s vision for innovation aligns perfectly with this mission. With team members, partners and investors already coming from 5 continents and nearly 35 countries, we continue to build a global ecosystem to tackle agricultural challenges together. The meetings we had in the Middle East over the last days could pave the way for future opportunities, as the region is positioning itself as a hub for innovation and investment in agriculture.

The recent approval by the World Bank to establish an agribusiness hub in Ekiti State is another testament to the power of strategic collaborations. This initiative will help standardise the livestock value chain, modernize critical infrastructure, and integrate climate-smart technologies—all geared toward enhancing productivity and driving commercialization. It aligns with the broader vision of leveraging partnerships to address capacity gaps, attract investments, and build resilient food systems. Similar to the ₦476 million AGRA grant to Niger State that I shared earlier, this project underscores the pivotal role state ministries of agriculture play in fostering sustainable development through innovative policy frameworks and targeted implementation. As we await the outcomes of these initiatives, they serve as reminders of the potential inherent in well-aligned priorities and collaborative efforts to transform Nigeria's agricultural landscape. 🇲🇦Morocco can count on science and technology to boost its agricultural sector. Local start-ups are revolutionizing food production and distribution channels. With cereal self-sufficiency approaching 75% and local products generate sales of over 1.2 billion euros a year, the kingdom's land is far from barren. Yet, for the past 40 years, 🚜 Moroccan agriculture has been threatened by endemic drought. Back in 2008, the government set up the Green Morocco Plan to help small-scale commercial farming. 📈This decision has had a positive impact of a 60% increase in agricultural exports the following year. #startups #foodproduction #morocco To read this article 👉https://loom.ly/5VBBTSM Follow us on Abramundi.org

Danish Agri delegation to Kazakhstan, October 2024 With the world’s fifth largest endowment of agricultural land and abundant water resources, Kazakhstan has impressive agriculture potential. Agricultural production has increased almost five times in the past 20 years, however, Kazakhstan is still a net importer of food. To change this and to diversify the economy away from its dependence on fossil fuel production, the agricultural sector is actively supported by the government and international donors and financial institutions. Key priorities are given to both crop production and animal husbandry. The desired development is part of the Kazakh government’s ambitious national 2030-plan, which e.g. stipulates that public investment into agricultural production will increase four times towards 2030. The export delegation aims at giving the participants a better understanding of the local agricultural market, while meeting potential partners and customers. Danish Agriculture & Food Council and PRAVDA ADVISORY are organizing. PRAVDA ADVISORY Esben Juul Bergmann Schjødt https://lnkd.in/dx3YCXqF
